My aunt was upset this morning, she says that the media is giving Trump too much credit. She despises the President and says that if Peter Jennings, former ABC anchorman was still alive, the coverage would have been more soothing and she believes that Jennings and ABC would have been more combative towards Trump.
My aunt is very anti-Trump. She served in the U.S. Army. Very, very militaristic and angry woman.
What do you think?

She was one of the family members that my siblings and I feared growing up.

Peter Jennings is dead?
She says that Trump doesn’t deserve credit, just like how Bush Sr. did not deserve credit for the Cold War ending. She says that Ford and Carter and Regan led to the Cold War ending, not Bush Sr.
She says the media is in cahoots with Trump to distract from other goals.
I would suggest that news hasn’t been the same since Frank Reynolds died (1983). During the Reagan assassination episode, this was the guy looking only for facts....no speculation, no wild scenarios, just facts.

I try not to argue with her, she is a very tough and cutthroat woman.
She is a McCain-type maverick independent voter. She loved the hell out of McCain in 2000 and 2008. Didn’t even vote for Bush in 2000. Voted for Gore in ‘00. Didn’t care for the Clintons either.
I doubt your aunt and uncle are correct. Peter Jennings was just another semi-lucid news reader. The people who wrote the news when Jennings was the anchor passed their work to editors who verified the claims in the news articles. The problem today is the writers of the new pass it on to the new readers who do not ensure the piece is factual. And in many cases the writers ARE the news readers.
If my aunt told that to me, I would tell her to ESAD. I really would. Then I would read her the riot act about how she sexually abused me with those wet slobber kisses on Thanksgiving when I was young. Beast.
