I’ve been a huge “anti-Microsoft” software engineer for a long time. I hated the fact that MS owned the desktop and had a lock-in, I didn’t trust them. The advantage they had over everyone in the industry was beyond a monopoly. I even considered Bill Gates to be evil, having too much control over every compute device we were using.
Over time, as Mac’s became far more popular, and the advent of the smartphone where MS has almost zero influence, along with Linux owning the server world, I thought “maybe it’s ok”. Bill seemed to be distancing himself from MS and, although MS still owns the much of the desktop world, I feel I have access to lots of information, applications, and devices he has no control over.
Then I start reading about why he’s doing less at MS...what he’s been getting into. Now this type of stuff. I’m back to DON’T TRUST HIM, HE IS EVIL.
