The Mortality Rate Might Go Down To 0.9% After Italy’s Health Chief Said That The Number Of Coronavirus Cases Is Probably TEN TIMES Higher Than The Official Reports

Italian virologist says open borders & fears over “racism” crippled Italy’s response to coronavirus.

Professor of Virology and Microbiology at the University of Padova Dr. Giorgio Pal told CNN that measures imposing travel restrictions and border controls were taken too late due to fears over political correctness. “There was a proposal to isolate people coming from the epicenter, coming from China,” Pal told CNN. “Then it became seen as racist, but they were people coming from the outbreak.”

Italy is now the hardest-hit country in the world in terms of coronavirus deaths, with 63,927 confirmed cases and 6,077 people losing their lives.

But it seems that the official number of 63,927 infected Italians is a lot bigger, ten times bigger.

The head of the agency that is collating the data Angelo Borrelli said that it was ‘credible’ to suggest that as many as 640,000 people could have been infected because only a fraction of them have received the necessary tests.

“A ratio of one certified case out of every 10 is credible,” Angelo Borrelli, the head of the Civil Protection Agency, told La Repubblica newspaper, indicating he believed as many as 640,000 people could have been infected in the country.

Testing for the disease has often been limited to people seeking hospital care, with health services stretched to the limit by the scale of the outbreak.

The missing cases could help to explain Italy’s high death rate of around 9.0 percent, higher than the rest of Europe and the U.S.

If he is right the mortality rate goes down to 0.9 percent.

The number of new deaths has come down from a world record 793 on Saturday to 651 on Sunday and 601 on Monday.

The number of new officially registered infections also fell from 6,557 on Saturday to 4,789 on Monday.

A new study found that 86% of coronavirus cases are asymptomatic. The carriers have no idea they are infected but can still spread it.

This study lowers the mortality rate more.

According to a new study by the journal Science — 6 of 7 coronavirus victims, or 86% of infections, were undocumented.

Using that model the mortality rate all over the world will go down.

President Donald Trump on Monday said he planned to pull the U.S. economy out of its coronavirus-induced slumber in a matter of weeks.

“Our country wasn’t built to be shut down. This is not a country that was built for this,” Trump insisted to reporters during a White House press briefing with his coronavirus task force on Monday evening, predicting that “America will again and soon be open for business. Very soon. A lot sooner than three or four months that somebody was suggesting.”

I think it’s okay to worry about worst case scenarios and do what you can to avoid them. But you don’t burn down the house to kill the termites. Every single aspect of the threat will be shown to have been overblown when this is all over. From infectiousness to lethality. Many of the stories coming out of China and Italy will prove false too, just like the Iraqis throwing Kuwaiti babies out of incubators before Gulf War I.

People cannot handle the idea that sometimes life just sucks and that it’s okay if it does.

Frankly, wars aside many people in the West have had so long a time where life didn’t seem to suck so much that they’ve become fragile wimps, even snowflakes, who get scared at any shadow.

hey this guy is making the exact same point I made with you yesterday!

And you still misunderstand it completely.

deaths / cases is radically lower than deaths / infections, because there are huge numbers of asymptomatic, minor and otherwise untested infections not counted among documented cases.

Political correctness represents a low Class 8 Stupid here on earth ... not because you can get much more functionally Stupider but because the Left can only threaten survival on this one world, where it needs the ability to threaten life on more than one world to qualify for any level of Class 9 Stupid and all life everywhere for a high end Class 10 Stupid.

Yep. I fully get that.

The difference is in assessing what “huge” means. 50% additional is a huge difference. So is 30% So is 600%. So is 1000%. Which is it? I can’t say what it is in Italy, but I can say that in the US, until the breakout which showed this week the evidence suggested it was at the lower end of that scale.

Setting up a Tar and Feather graphic to bombard them all with beginning May 1st. These socialist fear mongers have tried to sow discord and ruin FR, but they will ultimately fail.

I have a list of the panic pushers, ready to distribute soon. Interestingly, about 75% of the list have stopped posting. I think maybe some of them are hearing about the economic reality from newly unemployed relatives.

I do have one conflict. I have tried to teach my daughter not to let relationships fall apart over a couple of points of disagreement, when you agree with someone on almost everything else. All or nothing mentalities are not helpful.

On the other hand, these people have revealed themselves as authoritarian socialists!

Very true but in this case really a price must be paid for the insane overreaction. At least one of the more vocal CovidClowns here spread just as dire, if not as far reaching in ramifications, warnings during the impeachment fiasco. People dig chaos. The Omega Man is sexy, with pitched battles raging in the streets between zombies and survivors. Grandma succumbing to the flu not so much.

Yep - far more damage has been done by the panic than the virus could ever do - and the Left is going all-in to try to leverage that panic via the upcoming Bills - and many here on FR have been complicit.

I have a day of reckoning coming soon. I am 51 and the older I get, the more old people annoy the crap out of me. So at some point, I will annoy myself. LOL.

They are the most whiny, self absorbed and selfish people. Everything is about them and about their health. I swear I know people in their late 70s and early 80s that spend almost every waking hour talking about their damn medications and other health issues. What is the point of even living a life like that? Makes me want to run out the door.

It’s not the mortality that’s the killer.

It’s the morbidity.

How many hospital beds/icu/ventilators are needed so the 30-50yr olds don’t die.

And can your insurance industry survive all the payouts.

Ditto your middle aged/middle class. How many people can handle a million dollar ICU bill?

“Although 18% of the population was infected in recent outbreaks of seasonal influenza and in the 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic, only 23% of infections were symptomatic according to a community-based study published online March 17 in Lancet Respiratory Medicine.”

Author thinks we should believe there was a “study” in the Journal “Science” saying 86% of cases are undetected. He does not provide a link to the study, because of course there either is no such study, or the study does not make the assertion that 86% of Covid19 cases are asymptomatic.
