An FBI Agent who ran a warrantless spying program recently revealed that the FBI spent millions on a program that he believes was used for political purposes.

The FBI agent who ran the bureau’s warrantless spying program said Wednesday he warned ex-Director James Comey and his deputy, Andrew McCabe that the program was a useless waste of taxpayer money that needlessly infringed Americans’ civil liberties but his bosses refused to take action.
Retired Special Agent Bassem Youssef ran the FBI’s Communications Analysis Unit from late 2004 until his retirement in late 2014. He told Just the News he fears the deeply flawed program, which was started in response to the Sept. 11 attacks, was allowed to keep going to give Americans a false sense of security in the war on terror and possibly to enable inappropriate spying, such as that which targeted President Trump’s 2016 campaign.
“I have no doubt, or very little doubt, that it was used for political spying or political espionage,” Youssef said during a lengthy interview for the John Solomon Reports podcast.
Youssef confirmed that the FBI performed an audit of the highly classified program (also known as the NSA program because it searched call records captured by the National Security Agency) after Edward.
It was also reported from the Freedom Act’s Telephone Call Records Program report released by the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board, that the number of records collected by the government was in the millions and former DNI Dan Coates was well aware of this:

It is obvious to any objective observer that the democrats in the house are concerned with only one thing - Trump. They care nothing for civil liberties or abuses by our government.
Our national reaction to 9/11 when it comes to domestic or homeland security was deeply flawed on many levels. While it seemed right and necessary at the time it created a whole host of unintended consequences that we live with today because we buried our civil rights under a veil of secrecy in the name of “national security.”
Is Carter Page a Jihadist? Were George P or Mike Flynn Jihadists? If not, why were the tools to fight terrorism used against them? Why was information gathered through these secret surveillance programs intended to protect us from Islamic terrorism pushed throughout government and leaked?
Why were our intelligence agencies allowed to use our five-eye partners to do what they were not allowed to do - spy on American citizens?
These are very important questions and the only chance of having them answered is to elect a GOP house or for Chuck Grassley to recognize how important these questions are in the Senate.
Scary, however, we have a lot so called conservative Freepers wanting our government to take away flying and let our government quarantine us for a virus that may be less dangerous than the common cold.
Great news! Homeland Virus cops are coming to lock you and your family up, er quarantine you, for a virus you might have!
It is amazing how many so called conservatives want the Feds to take over our lives due to this so called emergency.

You are 100% correct. I am beginning to believe that Barr is part of the deep swamp. Holding back has allowed the communists Democrats get a better foot on getting rid of President Trump. The Republican bunch has shown they are weak.
None of them will ever see the inside of a courtroom, let alone a prison cell. The Deep State takes care of their own.

Any time we look to the government to "fix" something it results in another loss of individual freedom.
The government should shrink. But you'll never hear a candidate say that. They wouldn't get elected.
Maybe the libertarian view of smaller government is too much for some "conservatives."

Punitive federal and state agencies often get established when something bad is happening.
They never help with the so called bad problem and never go away.
As you noted, they just take away more freedom and choices.
I’m not sure if this is the same surveillance program that Dennis Montgomery described as “The Hammer”. Montgomery supposedly had extensive amounts of evidence of the abuses of this program but have not heard anything about him recently.
