The crash of a Ukrainian jetliner that killed 176 people in Iran touched off mourning Wednesday in both Ukraine and Canada — where many of the victims were from or were headed — and raised a host of questions about what went wrong. But U.S. intelligence officials said there was no immediate evidence it was shot down.
This morning Iran refused to turn over the black box from the downed plane.
Iran will not give the black box of the crashed Ukrainian airliner to planemaker Boeing, the head of Tehran’s civil aviation organization was quoted as saying on Wednesday.
Ali Abedzadeh also said it was not clear which country Iran would send the box to so that its data could be analyzed, semi-official Mehr news agency reported.
Now new evidence surfaced.
A local Iranian reportedly discovered a “control segment” of a TOR M1 missile near the Ukrainian plane crash site.
Maybe it penetrated a softer part of the plane, and then was effectively protected from further damage due to its position in the falling wreckage.
Iran got missile happy.

I noticed that on a Twitter feed and wondered if was legit.
The nose section carries the control surfaces and actuators used in supersonic flight so it is a pretty robust piece of kit
The missile is not designed to impact the target, its designed to get close and detonate a shape charge that shoots out a pattern of metal projectiles.
Kind of like a shotgun
Only after it's been tampered with so the information it holds is unrecoverable.
I had seen that on other sources and wondered.
I, personally, think that IR suspected bombers at the time. There was a FReeper last night that posted that the airspace was being closed. Over an our later it hit the wires that an airplane had crashed.
The Military Training base just a mile north of takeoff flight path is my speculation for the source of any missile, if these nosecone pictures are real. I doubt its a "college" or Olympic training site.
The base has shooting ranges, an obstacle courses, covered transport trucks and a 8 helicopter landing pad.
Non-voluntary military "Trainees" are not known for making good decisions.

These missiles have a proximity fuse that blows up near the plane. The nosecone blows off in the explosion and may not even touch the plane.
Unless a deep state actor with Iranian ties (like John Kerry?) Ordered the Iranians to shoot down the Ukrainian plane, hoping the “fog of war” would get the story lost on the back pages. Gee - wonder who or what witnesses were on that plane...
Look up SA-15 “Tor” surface to air missile system. This looks like a dead wringer for the seeker and guidance section that would be immediately in front of the warhead. This is supported by the charing on the aft end. Guess who has SA-15s? If you guessed the Iranians you win the prize.
True. When Rush says “always follow the money trail” the sad part is the end of the trial is “and U S taxpayers foot the bill for the entire thing.”
But at that time, the US and Iranian navies were engaging in limited battles.
And, IIRC, the Iranian airliner flight profile was more military than was typical civilian aircraft.
USN either got it wrong, or fell for the sacrificial islamic bait.

Perhaps our intel knows a whole lot of the picture regarding the deep state, globalist agendas, and how black ops infiltrated the entire area since the Russian went into Afghanistan and the US wanted to create a Green Line.
It worked for a while using black ops and the CIA, but when we pulled out, it left a lot of extremist Muslims out of the picture.
They had already formed Bn to Regtl sized units, but without financial backing. Over the decades portions of them are now in cahoots with the globalists to attempt world domination.
National leaders, regardless their politics, face the same threat from these groups, who favor asymmetric warfare with Bn to Regt sized operational backbone.
Each country or region has them.
Iran has them and had been managing them by allowing them to coordinate terrorism internationally in their region.
Clinton and Obama cartels now role in and try to link up and support them as their armed assets in a multi-bag of tricks.
Iran hates the CIA. US hates the terrorists.
Iran also had lots of moderates who really hate the terrorists and folks like Soleimeni, but lack staying power to take him out.
Burisma and Ukraine smacks of CIA/Black Ops controllers/hub of dens of thieves.
Maybe the intel powers that be, molded a COA where US takes out Soleimeni, Iran politically protests internally amongst the terrorist controlling crowd, Iranian politicians play along, with behind the scenes intel between Trump and Iran leaders to launch the attacks on air bases known to support CIA ops, and in return, black hat spooks on the plane leaving Iran back to Ukraine are given as a target to Iran.
Idea was to generate hysteria and fear amongst the locals and the world. Black hats leave Iran quickly, and the plane is downed, either by “SpaceForce” or by the trigger happy Iranian Air Defense.
Plane made it to around 7950 ft AGL before exploding. Aircraft controllers report they lost radio contact 2 minutes into the flight after it left the ground. Typical ascent rate of about 1800fpm below first 10,000 ft would take a little over 4.5 min. Max ascent say for a souped up 747 is about 3000-4000fpm.
IMHO, either something caused the radios to malfunction 1-3 minutes before being hit by a missile, or it ceased when it was hit.
If the later, then they were flying as fast as possible, which might not be the best appearance if anticipating combatant aircraft in the area. Or, perhaps they didn’t have clearance and were trying to escape Iran and Air Defense directed them to shoot it down.
Too much conjecture, but lots of food for thought.
After today and our withholding a counter-strike, it might be the case that both sides via backdoor coordination, both operated against the deep state, allowing both nations to survive without an escalating war.
IMHO, this is consistent with the same MO with N Korea.

What kind of guidance? Radar, TV, IR? Nose looks like it would be radar, to me.
The Canadians. A lot of them. Iran was also telling the world it would ground air traffic. Just guessing.
