Iranian leaders issued strident calls on Friday for revenge against the United States after the killing of Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani in an overnight airstrike at the Baghdad airport. The strike spurred mass displays of public mourning by Iran and its network of allies across the Middle East.

Today multiple rockets hit a military base in Iraq on Saturday where U.S. troops are stationed while mortars were fired at a high-security facility that houses the U.S. Embassy, according to multiple reports.

Reuters reported, “Several rockets fell on Saturday inside Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone, its Jadriya neighborhood, and the Balad airbase housing U.S. troops.”

But it seems that this is just the beginning!

For the first time in recorded history, the symbolic “Red Flag” of Iran has been hoisted up over the holy dome of the famous Jamkarān Mosque, which is located in the city of Qom.

I had to drive about an hour and a half for work, so I did something I never do, I switched on NPR. They talked to a journalist (leftist, of course), A Democrat Senator (Murphy from Connecticut), someone from a progressive think tank, and a Muslim activist. Apologies, Crusher138, for "refining" your coordinates! These are for a totally different (and huge) mosque -- on Jamkarān street and the edge of town (as seen in the photo)... They are within a fraction of a meter of the centerline of that stack of gold balls -- to which the "red Flag" is affixed.

The above photo was apparently taken with a long lens from atop the westernmost of the pair of minarets immediately to the north of the dome. The objects in the photo (buildings, light poles, streets, fields, etc.) line up well with that viewpoint...
