Buried inside a midsummer report for Pete Buttigieg’s campaign outlining his own strengths and weaknesses, a few lines crystallized one of the most important developments of the 2020 presidential race: black voters’ relative lack of interest in the black candidates. “They see potential in her,” Buttigieg’s pollster wrote about Kamala Harris, after interviewing groups of black voters — “but do worry that America won’t elect a black woman.” And for many, Harris’ June debate criticism of Joe Biden on racial issues did not feel sincere.

In the most recent election (2018) nationally 90% of blacks voted for Democrat candidates (Source: Pew Research).
Non Hispanic blacks comprise 22% of the Democrat voter base (Source: Gallup).
I have a theory that many black MEN would vote for a Klansman before they would vote for a black woman.

I’m willing to give Blacks a pass for voting for Obama - the first time. Afterall, it was a historic event. But, the second time, the euphoria should have burned off and reality should have taken over.

One has to jump through some serious hoops to make sense of the left's racial categories. We're to believe Kamala Harris is black, but black hispanics are not black. Oh my.

The Tori Hunter quote is foreshadowing a time (coming “soon”) when people where be encouraged to declare their own “race” just as they are starting to be encouraged to declare their own “gender”.
Then the “race card” will become a joker.
Kamala Harris received no support from the black community for a couple of reasons. She was a prosecutor, she is no blacker than Rachel Doziel and she just isn’t well liked. You meet her and want to run away.

Black voters matter
I can't put my finger on it but I've always gotten a vibe from her that she holds white people in contempt, in particular, her idiotically devoted white women audience.
Blacks vote 85-90% for D in every election, regardless of who the nominee is.
For a Democrat they absolutely matter, especially in the primary.
No Democrat has won the Nomination without winning the black primary vote since they started to keep track by race in their polling which was 1976.
While it is possible that someone could mathematically win the nomination without winning the black vote, no Democrat candidate has ever done so. This is why they pander so heavily, particularly in the primaries for the black vote.
They know in the general they will get 85-90% of the black vote, so its really a non issue at that point, other than turnout... But during the primaries, every Democrat knows this fact, without the black vote you probably will not be the nominee.
This is also why, as long as the black vote remains solidly behind Biden, which to date it has, that he is almost certainly going to be the nominee.
A little off subject but finding someone to blame is becoming a national pastime. Like the couple who drove their surplus army truck past warning barricades into a flooded creek in Arizona where it was swept away along with three small children. All they had to say for being stupid and killing the children is that more should have been done to prevent them from being stupid. Bigger barricades or something.
