The root of the answer lies in this adage; a candidate who advocates robbing Peter to pay Paul will very likely gain Paul's support.
We elected the Republican and Democratic representatives who oppose President Trump. Why do they oppose President Trump? Is it because of his policies? Is it his demeanor? Is it that he not a seasoned politician, which is why I voted for him?
I think exposing President Obamas inept corrupt use of government agencies was a blessing for the nation but a dark shadow for both political parties.
The political parties are not accustomed to a non-Politian who doesnt understand their rules playing in their sandbox. I can understand the extreme embarrassment both parties suffer when they witness President Trump enforcing laws they did not for thirty years. The embarrassing part is not that they couldnt fix it, they could, they didnt fix it because they didnt want to fix it.
The corruption exist and it is not likely to subside in the immediate so we voters have to take a decision, which corruption do you favor? I tend to vote for the Republican corruption because I find it more productive for the nation.
Republican corruption may be a crony capitalist contract with some aerospace company for changing out the electronics in aging fighters rather than begin new development. This results in jobs.
Democratic corruption may be a new program to provide a monthly minimum income to everyone looking for work and increase it when they stop looking. This does not result in jobs.
The same reason they become millionaires while in office.
Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Bring back limited government and we limit the opportunity for corruption.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As is often said - We get the government we deserve.
We are all flawed humans and cannot trusted. You cannot avoid it. That is why our government is structured the way it is.
When someone is found to be corrupt then we must make them accountable for “equal justice” and to make an example for the rest.
People want robots working at McDonalds so the order would come out right and because robots dont spit in your food. Maybe we need robots in Congress, programmed to follow the constitution and to never go over budget.
An ass divided against itself cannot stand.
Did I miss some exposés along the line?
Millions of Americans LOVE corrupt politicians.
Is there any other kind?
Because the air headed corrupt MSM doesn’t hold them up to scrutiny.
The corruption and unchecked spending is leading us straight into a financial crisis of unprecedented proportions. At some point the country will pay a heavy price for electing and re-electing these self-serving, unprincipled liars and thieves.
DC is the District of Corruption.
Trump exposed D.C. for what they are corrupt..both parties..they go there and become rich...there might be fifteen percent who are not crooked
Exactly. If the media approves of a candidate, they are not subjected to scrutiny. If they disapprove, they are subjected to intense scrutiny.
Consider the recent examples of Roy Moore in Alabama, and President Trump compared to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
The Founding Fathers pretty much assumed this experiment would fail. They knew all to well.
Millions of Americans LOVE corrupt politicians.
I suspect that the Founding Fathers probably expected the Republic would succumb to corruption by now. They were smart people who understood human behavior.
It was good while it lasted.
Trump exposed D.C. for what they are corrupt..both parties
Trump has also fully exposed the corrupt media, Hollywood and the entirety of congress. A monumental achievement in itself.
Because thus far we have no choice but to elect from the human race.
Why is there corruption in Government?
The answer is found in Bastiat's essay, The Law.
Bastiat was a Frenchman of the 19th century and perhaps no one has set down the philosophical argument for Freedom against Socialism better than Bastiat in that essay.
A year ago I spent some time lightly editing the on-line English translation to simplify Bastiat's message and make it more compelling to read. I also cut out sections on Universal Sufferage that was irrelevant to my purpose.
You can download my version of The Law in Microsoft Word format here.
The long and short of his message is:
Easy.
Each one of us, and especially politicos, will first and foremost look out for our self interests. So when politicians get power the temptation to use it to advance their self interests is very strong. It’s really not surprising at all if you understand human nature.
The answer is to give them the bare minimum amount of power and money to do their job and to watch them like a hawk.
