The most amazing thing about Theodore White’s "The Making of the President 1972" is his explanation of the emerging hostility of the elite news media and its evolution into an adversarial anti-president propaganda system for left-wing values.
Everything we are used to seeing in what President Trump calls “Fake News” existed by 1972. The parallels are amazing – and are part of why I decided to spend so much time analyzing 1972 and 2020 as similar patterns of conflict.
The current New York Times overt shift from smearing President Trump with Russian collusion (which collapsed) to smearing President Trump with allegations of racism were all foreshadowed by the universal elite media hostility to President Nixon a half-century ago. The lockstep hostility of the Times, The Washington Post, and the left-wing TV systems were simply proof that in President Trump they had encountered a leader bent on changing their world and confronting their values.
White combines his extraordinary analysis of the New York Times-Boston Globe-Washington Post system (and the three networks they shaped) with an explanation of the mutation from what he calls “the liberal idea” into “the liberal theology” – and the “movement” which grew out of it. (I will deal with the movement in my next column and its devastatingly destructive impact on cities in part four of this series.) I have been saying this for 20 years.
What has to happen is we must break the New York Mediacracy.
They are a existential threat to all we hold dear.
They are being exposed.
They will not die because of lack of profits. Too many oligarchs throughout the world will find their niche in the American Media to be too attractive to avoid propping up with a few tens of millions of dollars.

The primary reason that the press hated Nixon was that he took down Alger Hiss, their darling love at the time.

But, but... what about Nixon’s EVIL Southern Strategy! All the Dixicrats became Republicans, and the Democrats are the ones who freed the slaves! That man had to be stopped by “any means necessary”!
Although not as vociferous, the GOP can be added to that group.

True enough. Along with his screwy actions to "fight inflation": Phase I, Phase II, Phase II and-a-half, etc.
But from what I can tell it's this commie fairy tale about the mythical Southern Strategy that's front and center in what the young'uns learn these days. It "explains" why Republicans are racists and Democrats are the champions of POC. Up is down and down is up.
We have everything necessary to simply seize the assets of the “elite media,” shut it down and imprison its leaders. Trump knows this and is waiting for the best time to act. When he does, it’ll be glorious.

The power of the press “determines what people will talk and think about.”
Knowing that anything the President could ever say about the MSM would be leaked and made out to sound like he was single handedly erasing the 1st Amendment from the Bill of Rights, how great would it be if the described, Conservative Billionaires in the country got together to buy one of the MSM networks. Wasn’t it the Koch’s who tried to buy NBC a while back and it seemed like they whole world rallied against it because, God forbid, there was another network that wasn’t in lock step with radical liberalism.
But what would stop some of these guys just buying up the stock and when enough of it is obtained, for a bloc and take over the network. Forget about the ridiculous shows, just change the news formats on it. Either that, or apply for whatever is needed and get OANN on the air.
As for the Prime Time shows on those networks, all the stars will act like the worlds coming to an end and a few might even leave. Working for a Conservative....the horror. But, most of them are either on their last leg or not all that good, so a paycheck is a paycheck, and they’ll stick around.
Be great to see it be ABC, if possible. What will Behar and the rest of those morons do.
