Democrats Ask Millionaire Actor To Explain Why He Needs Slave Reparations
Chicks on the Right ^ | 6/15/19 | Ashley (KImber)

I’ve written at length about why I think reparations are absolutely assinine.

Who gets them? Who pays for them? How do we prove the “right” people are receiving them? Why are others being punished for something they had no part in?

So many questions with no right answer. Reparations simply don’t make sense.

But Democrats don’t really care about what makes sense. They care about what creates and reinforces victimhood status…

So they’re asking Danny Glover, a MILLIONARE actor, to come speak on behalf of reparations for African Americans.

You heard that right. A man whose “reported net worth is more than 400 times that of the average American” will now speak on why white people owe black people money.

According to NBC:

The House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties is scheduled to hold the hearing next Wednesday, its stated purpose “to examine, through open and constructive discourse, the legacy of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, its continuing impact on the community and the path to restorative justice.” The date of the hearing, June 19, coincides with Juneteenth, a cultural holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved black people in America.

Former Democratic Rep. John Conyers of Michigan, the longtime sponsor of House Resolution 40, first proposed the measure calling for a study of reparations in 1989. Conyers reintroduced the bill every session until his resignation in 2017.

Texas Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, the resolution’s new sponsor, introduced it earlier this year and pushed for next week’s hearing. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in February that she supports a reparations study, a topic that hasn’t been the subject of a House hearing since 2007.

Reparations had been a fringe issue and occasional punchline until Coates’ 2014 essay in The Atlantic, “The Case for Reparations,” thrust the topic back into the national discourse. Glover, an activist as well as the star of the “Lethal Weapon” movies and the classics “The Color Purple” and “A Rage in Harlem,” has spoken in favor of the issue for years.

Clearly, Glover’s immense wealth is a sure sign that black people simply cannot succeed in America…

Or something.

Quibble. Most African who were captured and turned into slaves did not come to the US. Most where taken to the Caribbean and South America.

But here we are talking about the descendants of the ones who were landed the US and sold in various slave markets - Charleston was one of the largest markets I believe.

Danny, I’m sorry but why should I be forced to pay for something my ancestors DID NOT do? I mean, when Lincoln freed the slaves, my ancestors were in Italy, working the land and mining coal, or in England and Wales, mining coal. The first of my relatives came here in 1916.

She was out with Gayle King making fun of restaurant workers. Like they did when she visited Gayle when she was an unknown in Hartford CT.

“I find it fairly hard to believe Danny Glover is worth more than the change in my sofa.”

a majority of Actors play characters who are much more likable than they are in real life. Glover is a poster child for that.

Irish children were the first slaves imported to America.

They get first dibs.

I heartily agree to pay reparations to every person I have personally enslaved, regardless of race.

“no reparations without repatriation”
This is a great idea and I’m all in favor of it even though I’d miss the NBA (not!)

“Every American, regardless of ancestry, should be thankful to live in the United States of America today. No matter where our various ancestors came from or the circumstances under which they came, we are all better off today than we would have been if they had never arrived.”

An the obstruction of that point is the central theme of all Democrat-supported policies, reparations is just the one we happen to be discussing on this thread.

"They still need to pay reparations to white descendants of the Irish who were held as indentured servants after being shipped here by the British without their consent."

The majority of my Irish ancestors came here in the 1890's. Do I still get the Irish reparations?
