Well, California Governor Gavin Newsom has abandoned plans to build a high-speed railroad between Los Angeles and San Francisco. After spending billions of dollars in funds, much of it from the Federal government, the Governor said that the project should be shelved.
He cited that the project was too expensive.
The face of American politics today. This is the slick and well-packaged oligarchy pick for California. Mr. California Governor Gavin Newsom. Look how plastic he appears. Why, he could be right out of one of those political villains from a 1980s John Cusack movie.
It all began ten years ago. Back then, President Obama called for a network of high-speed railroads to criss-cross the country within 25 years. The nation roared with glee and cheering his forward thinking.
Perspicacious = To be far-sighted in understanding things.
At that time, of course, the rest of the world had already implemented High Speed Rail. America was going to get involved in a game of catch up.
Only this time, progressive values and liberal management would lead the way.
His plan, began its implementation through California.
Of course, compared to the rest of the world, its pretty modest. The idea was to link the two largest cities in California together. This would occur by placing rail lines through the large entirely rural California valley. The top speed would be limited to 220 MPH, which is the global norm. The most ambitious plans would have 800 miles of rail line, paid in part by the Federal government and bonds issued by the (insolvent) California government.
The decision to cancel this program was welcomed by Conservatives, and derailed by Liberals. Both for reasons related towards political considerations. However, in my mind, everyone loses.
Whats worse, rubbing salt in the wound, comes President Trump. He rightfully questioned the decision to kill the project. As a businessman, you do not casually start of kill things without study, and an analysis of the consequences. Obviously, there were concerns that the decision to kill the project were not carefully thought out.
This is an excerpt. You can read the rest HERE.
I have never understood why people come to work and expect to eat their breakfast on my time.
It would be cheaper to subsidize Hellcats for everyone!
And a LOT more fun.
Because of the unions..?
What’s with people being so turned on with high speed trains? Travel to a country that has them and “enjoy”. Think all of the money wasted on mass transit boondoggles that mainly line the pockets of unions and politicians. What BS. Shinkashan works in japan because it has its own dedicated lines, no rail “crossings”, many people are concentrated in cities, many people don’t have cars and the distances aren’t like here. Also, they don’t seem to have ferals in Japan so it is generally safe. In America ferals will be attracted to transit hubs and assault you one way or another.
You can have your Trains
Or, you can have your progressive marxist gubmint
But, you cannot have both
Actually one of these “farm trucks” in every garage would allow people to travel fast without having to cram onto a train with hundreds of others, check it out:

Turn up your speakers!
I have noticed that same thing locally. A road that would have taken less than six months to build in the 50s or 60s now takes three or four years. I would be interested to know in more detail why that is.
FIrst thing I noticed. Zero has Chi-town being the center of the octopus. Nothing goes anywhere without the Chicago bosses say-so. Talk about graft....
I know, and I’m also sick of urban smarminess. It’s just that in the middle of all these comments about why we should or should not pursue high speed rail, etc., you just cut through it all and said what a lot of people feel.
That was fun.
Why Cant America have High-Speed Bullet Trains?
—
Because they are not high speed trains in reality:
Because “high speed” Trains will stop at every town along the way making only a little better time than current train speeds and in some cases cars would be faster by hours;
because no one will ride them;
because they will have to be heavily subsidized - meaning taxes will have to go up to pay for them permanently;
because they are 18th century technology.
The list goes on. A lefty wet dream to control people.
“Well, California Governor Gavin Newsom has abandoned plans to build a high-speed railroad between Los Angeles and San Francisco.”
Build a high speed train in earthquake country?????
If you could get a passenger car and personal vehicle transport at a fair price? Imagine being in your own vehicle even though you were far far away,and ya didnt have to drive there.
As for if it is serious or not, I volunteerAustin to be the first walled in city....
Agree, good points.
I don’t think that is a mystery at all.
The regulations and laws that are in place and must be complied with are vast in comparison to those present in the Fifties or Sixties. Think about it...If you want to build a highway through an area that is either wetlands or part of a habitat belonging to some species of animal, the amount of extra money, bureaucracy, and time needed to comply is staggering.
Especially with wetlands.
Well, it would certainly be profitable to the builders and the unions ... imagine the same sort of team behind the Big Dig building our HSR?
HSR has this going for it: big city Leftists would never have to even stop to by gas in the rest of the country.
Hmmmm ... build their HSR and cut the roads leading out of the cities?....
