"Good heavens, miss Takamoto, you're beautiful!"
Oh no.... not familiar with that one.
I’ll get back to you.
I agree with this. Lots and lots of good songs from the 50s,60s and early 70s, but it started getting sparse in later years.
Still, I hear an occasional song that I regard as a hit.
Premature post: some of it is steak. Some of it is hamburger. Some of it is audio chewing gum. I like all kinds of music, but it’s not all on the same level. I learned a long time ago that if I heard it and liked it, that was enough. Sometime I’ll buy or download it, sometimes its just a passing experience, musical ephemera. Its the individual experience that matters.

The 80’s was a lost decade for me in terms of media. Marriage, small children, career, and living with only two television channels in a very rural area kept me naive. Relocation and a teenage daughter brought me kicking and screaming into the mid 90’s.
Nooooo! Don’t do it, you’ll regret it.
Now maybe if you liked “Machine Metal Music” you might like it.
New York, London, Paris, Munich, everybody talk about Pop Musik!
Come on Eileen is an awesome song. I looked up the history of the band, and they are still giving shows today. Of course they aren't the original members, and they are called the "Dexys" now, but still.
The Name of the band refers to drugs, and the "midnight runners" refers to drug addicts running around at night trying to find some more drugs.
No, so I’ll pass. If I want to be appalled I’ll break out the “Flying Lizards” album.
I sure did. And don’t tell anyone, but I knew my way around a disco.
(gasp)
That’s where the “wild and crazy women” were. With “big American breasts.”
I had a Marine Corp “High and tight” In those days.
His name popped up recently. In one of the plane crash threads. He had the misfortune, along with 500+ others, to be on that JAL 747 that lost hydraulics because of decompression damage, and flew on and on until it hit a mountain that the pilots were unable to avoid.
Hey darlin’ . . . can I buy ya a coupla drinks?

The pop culture of the 1970s was adolescent and entitled in my opinion.
The main change I saw in the culture was that the girl-next-door had acquired the vocabulary of a sailor. Whereas a guy never cursed around women when I left, when I came back women used the F word in mixed company and loudly.
What did you guys do to piss of the nice girls in the seventies?
Or is it that these younger women came of age in the seventies, but grew up in the sixties, molded by the anything goes mindset?
Probably cocaine :(
My son couldn’t get enough of The Cars’ first album.
(Boy has good taste, I’ll give him that)
Dexys short for Dexedrine (amphetamine, dextrorotatory isomer) pills.
Sukiyaki was a nice song. I, of course could not understand a single word tho I am sure it was a love song.
Am I the only person who has no idea what this thread is about.
Drawing a complete blank.
