Out in the wild internet you can find all sorts of homemade guns. Even a 12 gauge handgun, which isnt a common thing to build. This aspiring gunsmith out in the boonies built one which resembles a 1911 pistol. Its not quite a Diablo 12 gauge handgun in quality and craftsmanship, but this does work as you'll see.
The thing is shooting a gun built from a well known gun manufacturer is fine because its a trust issue. You know its not going to blow up in your face or takes your hand off. But, if your buddy saids, he got this homemade 12 gauge pistol from his friend sister cousin, who's from the Phillippines. I don't know.
Maybe, were being too much of a party pooper. Its that a 12 gauge shotgun shell was meant to be used in a long gun, not a homemade pistol. The heavy recoiling 12 gauge shotshell is about to give this guy a serious whiplash. Would you defy the odds and take a chance to fire this homemade 12 gauge pistol? See the footage of homemade 12 gauge pistol.
Yee Haw!
Well that’s just stupid.
It’s not even cool but stupid.
It’s just plain stupid.
20 guage?
That would be a lot easier on the wrist. Good for snakes—IMHO.
In other words, about average for 'Am Shooting Journal'.
In the U.S., he would have to have used a rifled barrel, otherwise he simply made a short barreled shotgun.
I saw a video once of a guy who filed the appropriate paperwork, then built the ultimate sawed-off shotgun, cutting the barrels down to just the chambers so that the shotgun shells were flush with the muzzle.
It worked, it didn't blow up, and when he was through he used a second set of barrels to make a legit SBS coach gun out of the registered frame.
Stupid.
gosh!
From the article:
Under US federal law, the gun could be interpreted as either a shotgun or a handgun. Either way, the revolver would not be allowed for sale to the general public.
If the Raging Judge was determined to be a shotgun, the barrel length was well under the 18″ required by law. If the gun was determined to be a handgun, the bore was greater than 0.50″, and therefore prohibited as well.
And their 'editors' don't care about anything but ad revenue.
Grammar Police on Patrol.
Seriesly ????
Dang ol top break side by side 1911 man!
I can think of no faster way to die than to shoot a homemade gun. What could go wrong?
This is a “hold my beer” moment.
No thank you!!!!
My thought exactly.

How to build a 50cal. sniper rifle out of PVC!
Fwiw, I once (OCONUS) had a similar “shot pistol” an “AOW” (any other weapon in BATFE lingo) made by a gunsmith in 20 gauge. - A friend of mine there dubbed it : THE INTIMIDATOR.
(When I returned to CONUS, I gave it to a friend who was then an allied police LT over there.)
Further, I’ve seriously considered (for several years) remanufacturing the old-school, SxS double barrel pistol (from the 1920s) ITHACA AUTO BURGLAR GUN, in 20 gauge magnum, except in stainless steel with synthetic furniture like that of the M16 Rifle. = That “hand cannon” is DAVASTATING on 2-footed/4-footed predators, when loaded with buckshot out to the limits of usual self-defense range.= A nice, round 30” pattern of #2 “goose-shot”, #3, or #4 buckshot shot at 30 yards is typical.
(Fwiw, an “AOW” shot-pistol requires a 5.oo one time tax-stamp to register with BATFE.)
yours, tex
People build “home-made” guns all the time. From the workmanship this pistol shows, I would think the maker knows enough to use the appropriate steel to contain the pressure. I would fire it remotely several times, with heavy or even over-loads, before holding it in my hands to fire. But that would be normal practice anyway.
