Socialist central planning has not worked very well in all the countries in which it has been tried, most recently in Venezuela
Recently Bernie Sanders was asked the following question during a townhall meeting in Manchester, New Hampshire, by Harvard student, Samantha Frankel-Popell, whose father had fled the former Soviet Union.
My fathers family left Soviet Russia in 1979 fleeing from some of the very same socialist policies that you seem eager to implement in this country. She followed up with the question, How do you rectify your notion of Democratic socialism with the failures of socialism in nearly every country that has tried it?
What do they know about anything?
And their answer was ...?
K-12 students have been indoctrinated for two generations (probably more) via “social studies” and “language arts” classes to view socialism as compassionate and wonderful.
The gov’t run schools and teachers unions are infested with liberals in the same way that colleges are. The vast majority of teachers are ‘rats and teach the socialist agenda openly without even trying appear neutral.
Until this changes the republicans/conservatives we will never obtain a majority of the young adult vote; this is the reason for the push by the ‘rats to lower the voting age down to 16.
The fact that my father and uncles killed nazis with bullets and bombs is not lost on me, and i refuse to be ruled by a Socialist, Ive been free my whole life and im not surrendering anything to anyone.
My parents made sure all their children learned that money does not grow on trees. That simple concept is lost with todays socialist yoot.
How do you rectify your notion of Democratic socialism with the failures of socialism in nearly every country that has tried it?
I think “reconcile” would have been a better word than “rectify”, but then I didn’t go to Harvard.
One man, one vote, one way, one time.
That is how “democratic socialism” is established. And once entrenched, as in Cuba or Venezuela, the doctrines are enforced with murderous “death squads” that roam the streets and gathering places, to assure that the underground countervailing forces never gain enough traction to threaten the ruling oligarchs.
All forms of socialism descend into a paramilitary rule.
As the saying goes, Socialism — you vote yourself in, you shoot your way out.
How do you rectify your notion of Democratic socialism with the failures of socialism in nearly every country that has tried it?
And Bernie’s answer was ...
to avoid the question, by answering a question that wasn’t asked.
Bernie replied, Thank you for asking that question, before continuing with a question himself. Is it your assumption that I supported or believe in authoritarian communism that existed in the Soviet Union? I dont. I never have, and I opposed it. I believe in a vigorous democracy.
He has no answer, only manipulative rhetoric.
Sure they do — gimme gimme gimme and make “the rich” pay for it.
Is it your assumption that I supported or believe in authoritarian communism that existed in the Soviet Union? I dont. I never have, and I opposed it. I believe in a vigorous democracy.
So he not only avoided the question and then lied in his answer, but the truth about his answer demonstrates that he is as stupid as AOC, because he could so easily be fooled into believing that the USSR was such a great success when it was only 3 years from collapse. Oh, and he also demonstrated that he thinks that everyone who heard or will hear his answer is stupid enough to believe his transparent lie, and for missing his failure to actually address the question that was asked of him.
Fought 2 World Wars, all the while sowing the seeds of the EXACT thing(s) they were fighting.
The ‘radicals’ fully took over the education system, and nary a cry was uttered.
We’ve allowed the slow encroachment of Socialism for 100yrs+ and people are SURPRISED\*finally* (begin) waking up??
As for me, I believe in a “vigorous republic”, not a democracy. It’s astounding how many citizens are unaware of the differences between a republic and a democracy. And even worse, I don’t work with, or hang around with too many “uneducated” people.
Their problem is that they are too concerned with their occupation’s daily dictates, and they don’t bother to take the time to look around and understand the paradigm shifts concerning the meaning of “democracy” that’s going on around them.
For example, many “educated” folks I know do not have an understanding of the electoral college, and they’ll spout off about it needing to go away. So, I’ll ask for a show of hands from all the bystanders and say “all in favor of taking Joe’s paycheck, 401k, his savings accountand his future social security checks and dividing it up amongst the four of us, raise your hand!” Four hands go up to Joe’s no hand. Of course, Joe protests, but hey... it was a democratic vote after all, no electoral process needed. Finally, Joe, if he’s smart, starts doing his homework on the electoral college.
You have to chanllenge the rampant brain death that surrounds us.
the funny thing is, i ask Bernie Sanders supporters which socialist country do they like? They don’t answer it, and never have! There is no successful socialist country at the moment, and there will never be. They have never lived in socialism, and if they had, they would never want to live in it again. With over 150 million killed from socialism/communism, how the hell is it ideal?
My parents made sure all their children learned that money does not grow on trees.
No, it’s far worse than that... the overwhelming majority of money is simply borrowed into existence at interest.
So he believes in eocialism but he doesn’t believe in socialism. Got it.
Or is it that he believes in socialism done the RIGHT way this time?
Or is he just a chickenship old coward that won’t admit he’s a commie at heart because it would ruin his shot at the White House?
At least AOC has the guts to admit what she is and stand by it, even though it’s lunacy. Sanders is just as crazy but he’s a damned liar on top of it.
Bernie’s Millennials know a lot about socialism. They’ve been ingrained in it all their lives. The only problem is that what they know isn’t so.
