The Next French Revolution – Is it Beginning?
Armstrong Economics ^ | Dec 3, 2018 | Martin Armstrong

Macron held a news conference in Buenos Aires where he said that there was no cause justified the looting of stores, attacking the security forces, or torching of property. Macron totally fails to comprehend that the violence is building frustration that historically is necessary to mature into a revolution. This is not a political movement. This is economically driven. The police said that violent far-right and far-left groups had infiltrated the yellow vests movement in a desperate effort to call them extremists. These protests began as a backlash against Macron’s fuel tax hikes, but have tapped into a growing resentment that all people get are higher taxes and lower standards of living.

While the protests appear to have caught Macron off-guard despite the fact that his poll rating is now down to 20%, like François Hollande, Macron is unrepenting and unyielding. He said he would not change his policy because of the protests of “thugs”. This only fuels the angry response that he is also out of touch with ordinary people, particularly in rural villages and the provincial hinterlands. There were people with signs reading “Macron, stop treating us like idiots!” Macron is inspiring real hatred as did Hillary Clinton when she called 50% of the country who voted for Trump the “deplorables!”

Macron may call them “thugs” but the “Yellow Vests” have widespread public support, even in cities. The vast majority of French people were fed up with Macron. You can see the anger is escalating more and more throughout France, according to my sources there, and Macron is as unyielding as was Hollande. Some say that Macron had written a book called Revolution. He obviously failed to understand what really makes a revolution – TAXES.

Why?

Gas prices were 4.25 in NY 6 years ago.

Now they’re 2.60.

Why would it come to a town near me if prices have gone down and stayed down?

The only thing Brussels lacks is a Hitler figurehead so they can rule the world.

Waaaaaaay too obvious. They are more subtle these days.

That is some relief, huh? When you have extra money in your pocket, local or big government will figure out a way to extract it. Trump effect is only temporary. Even if you get eight Trump years, someone else could reverse or undo everything Trump has done using taxes as the excuse for needed national debt payments and to pay government employees’ retirement funds and benefits (local, State and Federal). Enjoy the interim.

Interesting short video from the riot.

It’s also about the flood of migrants. A few Antifa rioters only attended for the unsuccessful purpose of trying to stop the rural protesters.

That’s my take too. A reprieve. Eight years at best. A time to prepare.

The French are a million miles away from anything resembling a French Revolution. I don’t think they have it in them.

You may be surprised. They didn't loose their alpha male gene in WWII.

This is very concerning to me. You couple this with the unrest going on in the UK over Brexit and the anti immigration unrest in Germany and you have the three leading countries of Western Europe in various stages of instability that has not been seen there in many years.

Yes, when we think of revolution, it’s a good thing. That is based on our experiences. We have had one revolution that was led by sober and wise men such as Jefferson, Washington, Franklin and Adams. These and others were concerned with getting from under the yoke of a tyrannical government to create a true Liberal Democracy.

The experience of Europe is quite different. When they have unrest and revolution, they raise leaders in France like Jean-Paul Marat and Maximilien Robespierre who are more interested in taking off everyone’s head than they are in creating a sustainable and liberal Democracy that answers to the people. Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite turns into state sponsored murder.

I pick on the French in the above paragraph, but every country in Western Europe (with the exception of UK, Holland and smaller countries) have had these issues. Don’t think America would not get dragged into a conflagration so it should concern us.

The difference between the American and French revolutions lies in what the revolutionaries wanted to change. The American revolutionaries wanted to change their government. The French revolutionaries (and all leftist revolutionaries since) wanted to change their society.

Agreed. Plus, a weekend-only Revolution is not a proper one.

It’s the result of failing socialism. Run out of other people’s money and the overtaxed revolt. If US continues towards a socialistic platform, it too will become overtaxed and revolt.
