BUILD THE BORDER WALL OR SAY GOODBYE TO AMERICA
Canada Free Press ^ | 12/02/18 | Jeff Crouere

If the President has to shut down the government to get the necessary funding, he should do it without hesitation

We have heard the chants for three years, “Build the Wall!” It was the number one reason why Americans elected Donald Trump as President in 2016. Unfortunately, it is the most glaring unfulfilled promise of the Trump presidency.

Although the President wants a border wall, he needs Congress to fund the construction. Until now, Congress has only provided an anemic $1.6 billion for the border wall. This pathetic amount is nowhere near the $25 billion that is actually needed to properly build a wall that will stop the influx of illegal aliens.

And the United States Army and the US Air Force.

C’mon guy: we haven’t been a cute little defense force since the Spanish American War. Unless you’ve mastered time travel, you have to live with the world we have.

The country is being overrun. We don't need an army we need some agency to protect us. The Army is not getting done.

I'd trade the Army for 10 division of BP agents and 10 divisions of ICE agents.

Unless the President authorizes deadly force (against mostly unarmed people and unless the Congress repeals Posse Comitatus, the army or any other armed force on the border is just decoration.

Build the wall, keep the army.

Congress repeals Posse Comitatus

I am supervised that you bought off on the Posse Comitatus lie. It was a law preventing the Army from enforcing laws on US citizens not from apprehending foreign nationals. Don't be an idiot and fall for that lie.

The US Army exists to defend the US from foreign invasion, which is expressly authorized by the US Constitution. Guarding the Mexican border was the Army’s primary peacetime mission until 1940, and no one ever declared this was in violation of this 1878 act. The US Border Patrol wasn’t even formed until 1924, so claiming the intent of this law was to prevent US Army troops from guarding the border is absurd. The map at left shows US Army forts in Texas in the late 1880s when the entire US Army had fewer than 40,000 soldiers; it has 500,000 today. Clearly, defending the US border was a primary mission of the US Army for decades after this act was passed.

Read more at: The Posse Comitatus Act does not prohibit US Military on our borders.

Now, don’t you be an idiot: the army, like the Marines, are designed to break things and kill people. The folks who are invading right now should not be here but they are not armed or dangerous and there is no justification for killing them. What few who are armed are easily handled by law enforcement officers.

You need to stay away from too much coffee.

But that is not happening. 100,000+ cross our borders every year. I am not talking about shooting them. The Army can detain and arrest foreign nationals. The BP was formed in 1924 so who patrolled our border before then?

You need to stay away from too much coffee.

You need to snuggle up to some reality.

Oh, I have. Strengthened Border Patrol, certainly. Using the army as the Border Patrol?

Idiocy. Their mission is be able to fight conventional and non-state combatants, not to provide extra police to catch border violaters. Vast difference in training, arms, tactics, and techniques.

I realize that you are stubborn - but even you should understand that an outfit armed with M1 tanks and 155mm howitzers is the wrong tool in the drawer for border policing.

Idiocy? We're finished. Armies have been guarding borders since armies were invented. Is our f---ing Army too good for that mission?

Loser like you are the problem. If our side is so stupid the USA has no chance. AMF. You were an an officer? Shame.

Which just means that lost the debate.

The army is used at the border when there is an actual armed threat - and then of course, the gloves are off, I.e., Pancho Villa and Black Jack Pershing.

I am reasonably sure that I was a better officer - and much more educated in military art than you. Sorry, sailor.
