McDonald's reveals new breakfast sandwich

McDonald's is hoping a big new breakfast sandwich will help bring in more customers.

Triple Breakfast Stacks will hit menus on November 1. They're modified versions of McDonald's popular Egg McMuffin -- they will include two slices of American cheese, two sausage patties, bacon and an egg, The sandwiches are available on a McMuffin, biscuit, or McGriddles cakes.

The new items are designed to help McDonald's solve a problem: Fewer Americans are eating at the fast food chain. A new breakfast could help bring them back.

In a statement on Tuesday, the company said that the items are inspired by customized orders made by McDonald's (MCD) customers.

"People have been hacking our menu for years," said Mike Haracz, manager of culinary innovation. The triple stacks were inspired by those orders, he said. Linda VanGosen, vice president of menu innovation, said that customers have been requesting bigger sandwiches for breakfast.

McDonald's teased the announcement earlier on Tuesday during a call discussing its third quarter earnings.

Breakfast has been particularly challenging for McDonald's....

Oh my.

You’re missing out on the #2 best breakfast meal. Or lunch, dinner, or supper.

#1 of course is biscuits and gravy. Hands down.

Go to foodnetwork.com and pull down a recipe. Get some flank steak and beat the tough out of it. Serve with white gravy, eggs, thick bacon, strong coffee, and a glass of cold milk.

If you don’t cook, find someone who does.

How about a Waffle House? Village Inn? IHOP? Denny’s isn’t the only game in town.

There’s got to be a soul food place somewhere near you.

(sorry about you being in Mass. - heh)

"I'm lucky, I use maple syrup from my own Michigan maple tree."

If you ever decide to market your homegrown maple syrup I know someone who would part with cash for a jug! Or two!!

You got your chicken fried chicken, and you got your chicken fried steak. One’s chicken. One’s steak.

Use a bit of cooking oil and 1 egg, a touch of milk all mixed and put in a measuring cup. Microwave a minute to minute and a half. When it quits put cheese on it and cover the cup until cheese melts. It is just the right size for an English muffin. Add a sausage patty and there you have it.

I used to love their steak and egg on croissant. They were delicious but they discontinued them.

Not mine. I’ve got the biscuits down but I lost my game on the gravy. :(

Used to be the other way around. :)

As long as I’m not paying full Retail I like Micky D’s Breakfast Menu. They have a great App at Mickey D’s with some great deals.

Sausage and Egg McMuffin for #3.00, no way. The current Two for $3.99 Special, I’m in.

Hashbrowns for $1.00, bingo. Now they want $1.69, no way.

$1.00 Coffee, right on. Screw Starbucks. Tastes better anyway.

Cheap SOB, that’s me. #;^)

Take off on the best breakfast sandwich out there, Jack in the Box’s fully loaded breakfast sandwich. It’s great, especially with the 2 for 1 price.

Those ‘eggs’ would make good hockey pucks.

The McMuffin eggs are poached in a round frame/mold, so they are the right shape. I've never been crazy about them.

The biscuit and McGriddle eggs are omelet style, cooked in a rectangular frame and folded in thirds. They end up the wrong shape for a hockey puck. They are just regular eggs, nothing special, but hard to screw up, even for the teenagers working there.

Not mine. I’ve got the biscuits down but I lost my game on the gravy. :(

Time permitting, and when I really want to impress, I start the gravy from a roux. Real butter or sometimes lard. Jimmy Dean sausage. Hard to beat and slap yo momma good!

If I'm in a hurry, I'll use the McCormick's sausage gravy packets which is *almost* as good as scratch, and Bisquick for the biscuits. Still use Jimmy Dean though. The kind that comes in a roll/tube.

Took a long time to learn, but being able to make a good roux is essential for gravy, jambalaya, gumbo and all things good and pure. :)
