Everything liberals accuse the right of doing has been done by them: collusion with Russians, mob behavior, lack of civility, being dictatorial, lying, etc. The list is endless. This is can also happen on a personal level with liberal friends. Here is my story.
I went to my liberal friend for a couple of drinks and to chat on a Friday night. Another liberal friend of his dropped in. Conversation naturally turned to Trump. Over the course of discussing Trump voices were getting louder and I was finding it hard to speak with two voices shouting me down. Then my friend stood up and I started to stand up when he came toward me, jumped on top of me with his hands around my throat and screaming "YOU ARE OUT OF CONTROL!!!" I finally wrestled him off and circled around the room shouting at him, "You're a F****** moron!" And then he screamed "Get out you TRUMPSTER!!!" and starts to cry a bit (maybe realizing he lost a friend). I shrugged and left.
But what struck me was that he had to come across the room to shut me down from saying anything because in his mind "I was out of control." The fact was that he lost control of the argument and then felt he lost control of the situation to the point where he had to physically act. This is projection on a person level.
I'm curious if anybody has a similar story they would like to share.

There's an automatic suspicion of outlandish vanity (non-article-based) stories from relative newcomers that sound "too good to be true". A physical assault by a crazed liberal friend might fall into that category. So, having seen many prior instances over the years of n00bs posting outrageous vanities that turn out to be some lib joker trolling for a outraged reaction from FReepers, some of us are very cautious.
The fact that you did NOT get true troll treatment (zot, ban, suspend) indicates that the Admin Moderators found your vanity acceptable and your story plausible. On behalf of our fellow FReepers who raised the specter of you being a troll, I offer the above in explanation.
Most FReepers have some liberal friends. Working and playing in the Ithaca area, I would be nearly friendless without my dear, misguided liberal buddies. But I adopt some careful habits with regard to my comments on politics and social issues, since disagreement with the assumed default liberal mindset causes discord. Heck, even raising a question like "Wow, that's wild, are you sure that happened?" is enough to draw suspicious looks. One Does Not Question The Narrative.
I dropped off Facebook years ago. I couldn't take the constant stream of liberal BS.
So let us know a little more about you. It can still be entirely anonymous of course -- your FReeper persona isn't going to be cross-examined for adherence to objective reality. :-)

Yeah it’s sad. 30 years of friendship too! That’s a long time and for what? You can only pray they come to their senses at some point and grow up. Some times I think they see themselves as heroic, but it takes a lot more courage to face questions and insecurities head on.

Thanks for not seeing me as a troll! Yeah, I think some conservatives have been liberals who have seen the insanity of the left. And it’s a fairly long list of these converts... some you wouldn’t at first even suspect. I have hope, sanity will still reign and I think the Dems were so desperate to win they tried the lowest of the low tactics. And thank God it didn’t work. They can now go back, as lawyers, believing in presumption of innocence and maybe even believe more strongly in it because the opposite didn’t work in their favor. But they are playing with EVIL and that is sad.

Thank you dayglored! I now understand why you are cautious. Yeah, you’re right about questioning the narrative — it’s an article of faith. But there is going to be some hard times for Dems when the Meuller Probe goes kapput. I don’t know how you’d be able to restrain yourself from laughing at the nonsense put forward by your liberal friends as a legitimate and reasonable explanation for the debacle. I don’t know if I can reasonably mask my response in the company of liberals... it’d take an extraordinary feat of superhuman strength!

My husband’s parents and his sister are stuck-on-stupid liberals. They always try to start trouble at holidays. First it was our governor Scott Walker and now they hate on Trump. We ignore them. Libs ain’t gonna change.

Thanks for sharing that. The NPC mene just tells me many people on the left are conformists and very little original thinking. They don’t really want diversity but people all repeating the party line. They’re either like zombies or the BORG from Star Trek.
