“I never thought this would happen, but Collins is giving an outstanding indictment of the Democrat hit job on Judge Kavanaugh.”
I agree. In order for such an argument to have any impact with significant numbers of women, it had to have been made by another woman. People here who are bitching so virulently about her, can’t seem to see the forest through the trees.

I think Kavanaugh will be to the right of Roberts. Certainly more conservative than Kennedy.

At the worst for the choice crowd the court would kick abortion law back to the states where it should have remained to begin with.
That's exactly what overturning Roe would do.

May we all hope Flake and Murkowski will be inspired by the best speech Collins has probably ever delivered. I’m flabbergasted.

That speech alone is going to give us several victories in November.

They coulda come up with some flimsy excuse not to vote for him, wed complain, and we would have all ended up at the same place. EXCEPT...in that case the conservative vote woulda been depressed instead of energized like it is now.
Exactly. Talk about poor strategic planning.

“Plain Talk”...I agree with you...I also suspect that Kavanaugh is conservative in the sense that he may have held his cards close to his vest over the past decade or so regarding the issue of abortion, knowing that he could be up for the Supreme Court. It is not dishonest to assert that abortion-on-demand is “settled law”...then vote to overturn Roe v. Wade if a persuasive argument is made to you. And suffering changes people. Who knows what going through the Hell of being falsely accused of attempted rape — 35 years ago! — would do to someone? I'm betting Kavanaugh will be a better, more conservative judge on account of what he has gone through. (Not that any of this will have been justified, mind you...)

Not exactly. Moore was a previously REMOVED Ala. S.Ct Justice who was REMOVED from the bench for willfully failing to follow the law.
THAT is why he lost. (The 45-year old bogus charges were just the final torpedo into a listing ship).
If he had not had the aforementioned history, he would have survived those allegations.
So .... no, there is no comparison between him and Judge Kavanaugh ....
To: plain talk
Kennedy requested him. I think he will be the right vote the great majority of the time but I have always thought he was going to be more like Kennedy than Scalia. I am hoping he becomes more conservative once he gets on the court.

Now they are all lauding Collins speech, I agree, bravo - well done. Coming from her is even better.

Yes it was, and she reminded the Senate—and others in DC— that they are to be our nation’s CIVIL servants!
