Informants in this matter, operatives etc. could involve not just those on the FBI “payroll” but people working for ‘anti-hate’ groups such as Southern Poverty Law Center who may have furnished info or attended meetings or agitated online in their own ways.
If you go back to the days of FBI informants with the Klan during the Civil Rights protest FBI informants did criminal Klan work including beating the CR protestors and bombing of buildings.
At the Oregon Standoff protest, an FBI informant led protesters in firearms training and led an activity that expended thousands of rounds of ammo.
This activity was used against defendants in the first trial who successfully uncovered the informant forcing his testimony in their defense.
The seven were found not guilty by the jury.
