I got into a fight over immigration over the weekend with my best friend.
He loves hillary but we respect each other views for the most part.
He started ripping me a new a one about Trump and the kids at the boarder calling it the holocaust and trump is the new hitler.
I tried to explain that Clinton signed this into law in 1996 or 1997 and that its being going on every since then. He did not want to hear that. Its all Trumps fault.
He is a very smart guy and i did not know where that came from?
I know the dems are over hyping this but come on now.

I have been having the same discussion with my son (college ruined him) Here is the text I just sent him. “I have some questions for you. Do we have laws that forbid people from entering our country illegally? When said people come into our country, breaking those laws, should they be arrested? When these parents are arrested, do they usually go to jail? Should the children go to jail with their parents? Should we ignore our laws and just let these people go on their merry way into our country? If we ignore one law, then does that set up precedents to ignore others? If someone broke into your house because he wanted to live in it, would you want him to go to jail or say “Nah”, just because he has kids and he would be separated from them? Or would you just say “sure come live with me”? If you decide to let him go to jail, is it the cops fault? If so, how?” He wants to blame this all on Trump, but I said Trump is the Executive branch and their job is to enforce the laws that Congress makes. He is placing his anger on the wrong people. First his anger should be with the parents who drag their kids with them in an attempt to break our laws. Second, should be with Congress who make the laws in the first place. I told him Trump has been pleading with Congress to change these laws. (hope this makes sense)
The open borders crowd are using scripture to sway law abiding Americans regarding thousands of children caught illegally crossing the border. Why?
They want CATCH AND RELEASE reinstated aka open border.
I would love to see the same outrage and 24 hr. coverage about the homeless in TENT cities and rampant drug addiction killing thousands.
To win the debate with your friend, ask what is the solutuon. Screaming about a problem isn’t winning.
1. Why are they separated from the adults?
2. Are the ‘parents’ traffickers? How are they vetted?
3. How many children come without adults? 10,000 w/o adults, 2,000 with adults per month.
4. Where do we put these children? Foster care? Do they get to stay in America?
5. If Democrats want this soooooo badly, they could back the current immigration bills without argument.
It’s one thing to respect a person and another to respect their views; maybe that’s what the OP meant.
I know a lot of people whose views I can’t respect at all - they are knee-jerk libs, largely ignorant, who polly-parrot whatever the MSM or the Dems tell them.
But many of them are kind, generous, thoughtful, accomplished people in other areas of life, and I can respect that.
I don’t, however, discuss politics with them.
I have relatives in Chicago with the same attitude. They call me a Trumpanzee.
Liberals just scream nonsense and ignore any truth. They fear bursting the bubble of ignorance. Send all immigrant children to Chicago. Your friend can figure out the best solution because Congress will never solve the problem. Dems know they only make problems worse.

I don’t talk politics with any of my liberal friends. They are great people in every other respect (which is why I keep them as friends) but once the talk turns political a switch goes off in their brain that turns off all capacity for critical thinking, they start frothing at the mouth (which is oddly arousing if it is a female friend), and start ranting about how evil conservatives are.

If they are truly your friend, they’ll respect your desire to keep politics out of your relationship. Your own dignity in the matter might even cause him to think more deeply.

Conservatives are routinely discriminated against in the national broadcasting systems, so we should apply a simple rule. If you don't have 50% of the people working for you being conservatives, you are guilty of prejudice and discrimination, and will be fined massively until the problem is corrected.
But yes, we should either take over the propaganda system, or utterly destroy it so that they cannot keep using it against us.
