The Independent has just reported that South Africa‘s parliament just voted to seize privately owned land from farmers.
In the past, government seizure of privately owned farmland has always resulted in huge reductions in food production, whether it be in the Soviet Union, China, Zimbabwe, or, most recently, in Venezuela, where the recent government seizure of farmland was followed by most adults losing an average of 43 pounds in two years.
Why do the member’s of South Africa‘s parliament think the results will be any different this time?
Since Zimbabwe did so well when they did it.
The "divest"from SA was a big issue on campus when I was in College.
As a 19 year old I thought, great. Why should white people lord over black people if it is unwelcome?
As an old fogey, I realize that Winston Churchill was correct.
It ISN'T that whitey is "better". He's NOT by any stretch of the imagination.
But *civilization* and the rule of law IS "better" than tribal rule and endless bloodshed.
Don't get me started on the abject poverty that is coming down the pike for EVERY person in SA.
But don't think for a second that the lesson has been learned.
I have no idea how any citizen of Zimbabwe thinks they are doing swell under Mugabe.
Maybe there are people out there who cannot get enough of a dirt poor existence.
So I suppose they will be tearing down a lot of statues.
I guarantee the members of parliament will not lose 43 pounds. They will continue to eat will, oh and so will their army.
And rewriting history books.

The banks will not be making loans for agriculture. Based upon the Zimbabwe debacle as an example, making further agriculture loans would be foolish. Bankruptcy looms for some banks which loaned based upon land held as collateral. The whole financial system of SA is subject to collapse.

Actually, "WHITEY" is better when it comes to blacks in SubSaharan Africa! The average IQ, for blacks there, is somewhere around 70.

I see where 10,500 white Boer (Germanic) farmers/homeowners want refugee status to arrive in America and start over. It would be an improvement over the refugees we have been taking in, but taking in refugees is a tricky business if they are not vocationally skilled and X=capable of being self supporting. If Venezuelans are next, I hope they are vetted and bring some expertise with them to this country.and won’t be a burden on the state I like Prez. Trump’s dictum...only take in those who won’t be a detriment to our country. Actually, these 10,500 are probably educated, and have a skill, so I would like to see them vetted and get in.
Though there wasn't a significant white population in Uganda like in RSA and Zimbabwe/Rhodesia, there was a large middle class of "South Asians" - mostly Indians, who ran most of the businesses, farms, ranches, government offices, and more. Immediately after Idi Amin's coup, he expelled ALL of them from the country and confiscated all their property & wealth, save for £55 per adult. Uganda went from being the longstanding "Bread Basket of Africa" to being the latest Basket Case of Africa. They had earned the former title from generations of bountiful harvests from productive farmlands that enabled them to export food to other African countries. Now they had to import it and beg for it from the UN.
After Idi was gone, successor governments - out of economic desperation - begged the South Asians to return. But their pleas fell on deaf ears.
Similarly, Mugabe himself begged white farmers to return to Zimbabwe, but to no avail.
Apparently ex-Euro-Africans and ex-Indo-Africans are smart enough to understand the old saying about "Fool me once..."

I didn't have any sources BUT the MSM of the time (1986), who informed me that everything about SA is bad. BAD I tells ya.
I've read a Walter Williams article about what SA was like prior to Whitey moving in, and what it was like for a black person afterwards.
Turns out that a black South African had MORE rights, MORE opportunities, that there were MORE black MDs, more black citizens having cars, MORE to eat, MORE choices of where to live under Apartheid than when it was some meager colony of the British Empire.
It was successful by any measure.
Whitey gave black South Africans more choices for advancement under Apartheid, than they they could have ever dreamed of under *no* rules.

Africa, or ANYWHERE doesn't work without rule of law and freedom.
The Chinese are already there, but they aren’t going to take over the farms; they are interested in other things.
Africaners are well educated, can at least read English, though most can also speak it, and are skilled in many different areas. The news articles just talk about the farmers, but there are many others, also in harm's way, who are CPAs, engineers, doctors, dentists, etc. who need to be taken in here, as well.
Great! The dispossessed will leave and prosper elsewhere. Another country will become a Third World s-hole. Prosperity does not come from collectivist redistribution; it comes from freedom.

You're quite right about having the rule of law and freedom and without both, it doesn't matter what race someone is, the result is terrible for all but those at the very top of the ruling class.
