I DO think George Washington deserves a holiday in his honor. I do NOT think MLK deserves one to himself. He is in NO WAY in Washington’s class.
And yet when dealing with you I certainly don't feel so.
How many of those Eastern Block nations willingly asked to join the USSR at the end of WWII. Quite possibly it was the presence of thousands of Soviet solders and hundreds of Soviet tanks within their borders that convinced them to join the USSR. Considerably different circumstances than Mississippi or Texas asking for admission as a state to the Union.

Then why are you complaining about next Monday? That's the Washington Birthday Federal Holiday, and identified by federal law. People call it President's Day but in reality it is still the Washington Birthday holiday.

Great grandfather was one of the special judge advocates at the Lincoln Assassination Trial. He was called to DC by Stanton because he’d just gotten the death penalty for the southern conspirators in Indianapolis. GGF wrote about the people’s reaction to Lincoln’s death:
