I want to be one of those little girls in their nightgowns that he pets their hair so fatherly at 2:25 and 3:00. It’s so sweet.

This is my favorite youtube compilation, 3 hours of the best Christmas songs. I even downloaded it to keep a local copy on my devices: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmg5lEfFGHQ

I just wish I could escape hearing Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, but there’s no escape!

Pentatonix - Drummer Boy. My wife loves this. It is pretty amazing with their voices, harmony and the sounds they make with their mouths (the “drums”, etc.)

I like the version with Bing Cosby and David Bowie:

My favorite Christmas album is Keith Emerson’s Christmas Album.

Silent Night:

There is a cool video on youtube of an ELP concert from December 1973. They ease off of one of their prog rock songs, and Greg Lake starts singing “Silent Night”, and after a few lines the crowd is singing along. RIP Keith and Greg.

Three stations in my area are doing non-stop Christmas music.

One since the first of November is mostly secular with some sacred.

Another is a nice mix and the one that started after Thanksgiving is Christmas Carols.

They dug up some nice ones from the UK this year.

Guess it depends on where you are.

To hear the best Christmas music in the world, tune in to the BBC World Service at 1500 GMT, for the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, live from King's College Cambridge.

As I have been doing for over 40 years - though it's a bit hard in Singapore because the time here will be 2300.

And yes, the lessons are all read from the King James Bible. Merry Christmas to all JL

If you like O Holy Night and you want to hear a beautiful version you must hear Josh Groban’s. His voice is similar, maybe deeper than Crawford’s and is just unbelievable—a dramatic voice for a dramatic song. He recorded it ten years ago, so it is fairly new. I prefer the old songs, but make an exception for this one.

Everybody has their own source for Christmas Music now, so stations don’t bother. You can open a laptop and play Christmas Music from Youtube or you can make a playlist from itunes or MP3 songs you rip from discs and play on laptop or ipod. So you take your music with you. I have 750 songs on a card reader I plug into the car. Instant on demand Christmas songs and I like them all because I personally screened them all.

Welcome to modern technology.

Scular XMAS music abounds.

Sacred Christmas music has a long tradition.

The church I attend barely uses traditional hymns at all, let alone Christmas pieces. It’s a shame, really.

Years ago I started buying 1 Christmas cd per year, often at bargain prices. Mostly classical with a smattering of jazz, celtic etc... brass choirs etc.... it has turned into a nice collection weighted heavily on the sacred. At around 50 cd’s (many were flea market sets), I cant imagine purchasing any additional releases.

Favorites? Usually my first CD selection for the year and one that I go to quite often is mantovani releases. Mantovani really does it for me.

wow, that same thing happened to a Barney videotape my daughter got when she was 2 or 3. It just disappeared one day.

We found it when we moved, somehow the little tyke lifted the 200 lb entertainment center and slipped the video underneath. What an amazing child.
