Wow! A huge clarification coming tonight from ABC News. Earlier today, reporter Brian Ross rocked the nation by reporting that Michael Flynn was prepared to testify that candidate Donald Trump had directed him to make contact with the Russians. The word candidate would mean during the 2016 Election. His report hit like a bombshell. But tonight, ABC News is reportedly clarifying that Ross should have said . . .

Either way was a nothing burger.
Obama declared himself President before being sworn in
The Obama White House let in the female Russian lawyer who meet with Fusion GPS before meeting with Trump followed by GPS leaking a fake “Russia” showergate dossier and the DNC runs with Trump - Russia conspiracy theories ... but no, let’s say the conspiracy is Trump, not the Democrats engineering a set-up to try to take down the Republican candidate.
The media are so obsessed with the Russian story they immediately jump to conclusions in their reporting. That is why you can not believe anything they say. This latest gross distortion is just the latest example of fake news. It is scandalous because it does great damage before it is corrected and if it is corrected there usually is no apology.
He works for ABC which is the all bull sh*t network he will get a raise..this is how the media works..post big BS bombshell get everyone retreating it..a few hours later oopsie daisy my bad our mistake but no one hears it
this guy? yep, more of the same...
Sounds like Comey needs to come out an say “the President acted carelessly” it seems to have worked for Hillary....
And Obama met with German Chancellor Merkel while he was still a candidate in 2008.
Correction. It WAS a nothing burger with frys, but we just took their frys back, along with the bun and the meat. All they are holding is their pickle covered in ketchup.
this all is being done for political reasons....they gotta get the base to abandon Trump...he still has us..thats his power, and its huge. Once we leave him, they will impeach...
That, plus, exactly how does a candidate everyone knows is going to lose “negotiate”? With what authority? With what Quids pro Quo?
I suppose if Candidate Trump negotiated with Russia to undermine the U.S. position using some billions of dollars worth of bribes as the lever to move Putin, that would violate the Logan Act, but the bribes themselves would be illegal. So, I don’t believe discussions violate anything.
Flynn just admitted to lying to the FBI.
For some reason, I believe the media will view anything he says from here on out as gospel, for some reason.
I believe that Flynn’s conversations were all AFTER the November election...in December. If I’m correct, that would make this “Fake News”.
Fake and Phony. MSM are nothing but a bunch of blog pimps.
Fake news artist Brian Ross knows he has an appointment at the wood shed with the President’s coming Twitter storm.
Trump trolled them again.
Ross is the epitome of LSM A-hole. The original headline was not a mistake.
Logan Act...totally bogus:
CNNs take back in February:
Heres the rub. The 218-year-old Logan Act has almost no track record, and no one has ever been prosecuted under it.
Only once, in 1803, was someone even indicted: a Kentucky farmer who wrote an article advocating for a separate Western nation allied with France. But the Louisiana Purchase later that year made the matter obsolete, the Congressional Research Service reported....
...In addition, the laws mention of a person acting without authority of the United States could be an escape hatch, Vladeck has written.
Flynn wasnt simply a private citizen; he was an adviser to the President-elect and soon would be given diplomatic powers. Legally speaking, his role may have granted him the authority to talk sanctions with Kislyak, Vladecks interpretation suggests.

ABCs take from teh same time:
Even hypothetically, legal analyst Holloway said he could not stand in court and make the argument that that is a private person because Flynn was an official member of the Trump transition team and national security adviser appointee at the time of his conversations with Kislyak.
Professor Vladeck said, Its not clear to me that a member of the transition team like Gen. Flynn is even violating the Logan Act in so far its not clear that hes acting without the authority of the United States.

Although Steve has previously suggested that the Logan Act couldnt be used to prosecute members of the presidential transition team (if it could be used at all, given that its been moribund for over 200 years and is, in any event, a content-based restriction on speech), an exchange over e-mail between us about Steves prior post led to this Q&A that more fully fleshes out those arguments:
