We tell non hunters to wear orange when walking in woods or field. Not a bad idea in hunting country during hunting season. It prevents a guy who legitimately sees a deer realize there is a human in the foreground or background. Know your backstop.

Over the years, I've known a few people that would get so excited at the thought of taking a deer (or other game) that they would take any shot, regardless of how unlikely or unsafe it was.

Big game hunting hours are sunrise to sunset. Sunday hunting is allowed in all areas of New York. There are some local exceptions. Check the area that you hunt carefully. For hunting on state parks, confirm regulations with the park before hunting.
