These indictments have NOTHING to do with "Russian government efforts to influence the 2016 presidential election and related matters," and so Mueller has overstepped his authority and poisoned the well should Manafort et al. be legitimately charged in the future.

Federal investigators would never come out and make such a direct segment, they would hint around it, however. Much like the Mafia protection racket line, “nNice place you got here. Be a same for something to happen to it.”
