The killer was a white guy, a Christian by birth if not belief. He was not radical, just a crazed man given the means by the gun lobby to terrorize innocent concertgoers in Las Vegas on Sunday night, shooting to death 59 of them. Stephen C. Paddock was, by all accounts so far, an ordinary American. That is what most terrifies the right.
And so, some on the far right have convinced themselves that Paddock could not be what he seems, what the authorities say he is. They say factsalternative facts, perhapswill inevitably reveal the truth, even as mainstream media outlets do everything they can to skewer that reality, so as not to offend the sensibilities of coastal elites.
This is how America grieves and mourns in 2017.
The lack of certitude about Paddock was conveyed by President Donald J. Trump himself, who on Tuesday was asked if the 64-year-old killer could have been a member or supporter of the Islamic State group (ISIS). There is no evidence whatsoever that that was the case, and although ISIS did attempt to take responsibility for the attack, this was almost certainly what Politico called the terrorist organization's desire for publicity.
The FBI has said ISIS is not responsible for the attack. Senator Richard M. Burr, who heads the Senate Intelligence Committee, similarly asserted that "it doesn't seem to have a terrorism nexus."
And if some international organization were directing Paddock, Trump would have surely known as much from the Presidents Daily Briefing, which would have given him a clear overview of terrorist activity around the world.

Christian by birth, if not belief...doesn’t work that way. Author must be Jewish.
No one is born a Christian. That’s his first logical mistake.
Agreed, but journalistic integrity doesn't exist anymore with leftists, only the 'cause', and the lies to propagate them.
“a Christian by birth if not belief.”
Sharia has a law that anyone born with a Muslim father is a Muslim. Christianity doesn’t work that way. If you don’t accept Jesus as your savior you are simply not Christian.
Also I think everyone accept that this jerk is white and male, we are just not racist enough to say those things define him.
Seems he was an anti-Trump extreme left-winger.
Hey Mr. dimwit author! I guess this means that this is like the far left won’t accept that a Muslim might have perpetrated this attack.
And since white, allegedly Christian, males are the source of all of evil in the world, this just fits in with their narrative.
I don’t remember, but did they trot this one out when one of their own — James Hodgkinson — shot up a Republican Congressman and two cops?
Wasnt he a registered democrat? smdh
It is very likely that the author of this piece is Jewish. Judaism is entirely based on race, themselves “the seed of Abraham.” The writer assumes Christianity to be race-based as his religion is.
The New Testament put great stress upon the fact that it is one’s faith - as opposed to one’s race - that makes him a Christian. One’s spiritual birth, not his physical birth. A concept hard for Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews, to grasp, when Jesus told him he must be “born again.” His Jewish physical birth and race wouldn’t save him, in other words. John 3:1-5.
No bigotry at all there, a “Christian by birth”...
It’s not that I won’t believe it (other than the “Christian” part), it’s that I don’t trust the Fake News Media to tell the unvarnished truth. I’m sure that’s where many white Americans are. The media (and the government) has lied to us so many times that they have no credibility.
What do they mean White male Christian? Is this some kind of game like Warren saying she is Christian pro abortion?
Let me guess, the author forgot the word liberal at end of Christian...
No, of course not. And Christians had better not let them define what a Christian is.
I believe he is a white male, do not know of his religion, never heard of born a christian
Gaydar going off big time.
“Stephen C. Paddock was, by all accounts so far, an ordinary American.”
Oh, screw this guy. An ordinary american ? He should be chased to the border with pitchforks.
Do you have a citation for this?
I am going with Islamic motivated terrorism.
What other motivation offers rewards significant enough to go to the trouble of doing this?
Ive been saying for awhile that the Father of Internet Jihad, Anwar Al Awlaki has been give an increasing effective platform by Googles You Tube.
This makes the fact that he doesnt fit the profile not a problem.
In fact AAAs Youtube channel has had a large impact on almost every terror attack you can name.
In the meantime, poople critical of Islam have been getting their YouTube accounts pulled, as many FREEPERS know.
The REAL answer to this violence is NOT gun control but for the West to pass child pornography like laws covering AAA videos.
Here is an org that agrees with me and has a lot of info on this topic:
