"....According to police radio transmissions, a group of officers was at the gunmans door, and had locked down the 32nd floor, by about 10:25 p.m. but waited until about 11:21 p.m. more than an hour after the attack began before they blew open the door to enter, the recording shows."

I dont believe that a bit. This guy just watch TV for an hour. What a joke!!
10:08 p.m.: Paddock starts his rampage. The first reports of gunfire come in when an officer reports "shots fired" and says it "sounds like an automatic firearm."
10:19 p.m.: A team of four officers makes their way into the hotel up to the 32nd floor. It's unclear if the shooting is still going on.
10:24 p.m.: An officer whispers over the radio that he is in the stairwell on the 32nd floor. The gunshots appeared to be coming from room 135.
10:25 p.m.: Dispatchers call for SWAT to help as officers set up outside the suspect's room.
10:26 p.m.: Officers find a security guard was shot in the hallway outside the suspect's room. They ask for backup. "He's shot into the hallway and hit a security guard," the officer said.
10:37 p.m.: SWAT officers are reportedly moving up to the 32nd floor to help officers.
10:38 p.m.: Officers say they haven't heard gunfire in about 10 minutes. One officer gets in an elevated position with a rifle to keep a medical triage area safe near the hotel.
16 minutes after the first call came in an officer located the shooter's room. 17 minutes after the first call those officers called for SWAT. 29 minutes after the first call SWAT officers are headed up to the 32nd floor. The gunfire had ceased approximately 10 minutes before that.
It would have taken me a little longer, but my uniform would be soaked through.
“I don’t believe that a bit. This guy just watch TV for an hour. What a joke!!”
He probably killed himself shortly after shooting the security guard rather than shortly before SWAT came in.
I don’t know whether an autopsy can confirm the exact time or not. But I am more confident that the exact time he stopped shooting out the window can be established. I would be surprised if he shot out the window again after shooting the security guard.
The shooter had cameras positioned to alert him of coming police. Probably IP home security kind of stuff.
It was all over in less than 15 minutes. There could not be any delay because it was over just as they got there.
uh, why not repel from helo down to roof and run DOWN the stairs? It would take me about 2 hours to walk up those stairs. Do I watch too many movies?
I keep saying that the size of the arsenal he had with him is the "big clue".
y gut is still saying something to do with "Fast & Furious". In fact, it describes the event.
I remember when the Towers were hit on 9/11 they were talking about the firefighters climbing the stairs and said that they would be climbing at the rate of about one floor per minute.
If the guy was on the 32nd floor, it would take them a half an hour to climb those stairs, hauling up their gear with them.
I'm going to guess that they knew very well what going on inside that room. A lot of police forces have had drones since 2015....If the pictures from the drone showed him dead on the floor, why rush?
The elevators had been shut down. They had to haul up 32 flights with body armor and heavy equipment. That alone would account for 20+ minutes.
Police froze in fear while 54 minutes went by.
I didn’t say the foregoing quote. I was just quoting it as stated by another freeper........... and then agreeing with it.
If you don’t think there is fear involved in going down a hall to attack a man that is in the act of killing and wounding hundreds of people, there is not much I can say to that statement other than you might try to get a little grip on reality.
yup
union rules prevail
That’s right.
I see nothing wrong with their response time.
It would have taken me a little longer, but my uniform would be soaked through.
>><<
I’m sure their uniforms were soaked through. I see nothing wrong with the time it took to respond.
Yes.
Nope. let me demonstrate how dangerously dilatory this was. The shooter was shooting for about 15 minutes . The “first res-ponders” are fiddling outside rather than taking action for 72 minutes!! What if the shooter starts shooting again at the 20 minute mark or the 50 minutes and shoots for 20 minutes. What the hell were they doing? Now they are lucky he didnt pump another 1000 rounds while they dawdled? Im telling you— heads should roll. 72 minutes???? Yikes!! They froze. there is no excuse for 72 minutes. ZERO
Has anyone figured out how long it took until all who were able to be in the clear?
Did the guys at the door spook him enough to save many more lives?
Police reported tonight that shooting lasted 11 minutes and stopped and did not resume. That is why they executed door breaching by the book.
