Hollywood as we have known it is dead, yes it is. It survived for years thanks to Americas seemingly insatiable appetite for mindless blockbusters based on mindless comic books. The box office for those blockbusters enabled leftist, anti-American producers to continued doling out millions of dollars to leftist directors to produce unappealing, box-office disaster films filled with leftist propaganda starring modestly-talented, sort of cute leftist actors.
But those days are gone. Americas appetite for mindless comic book blockbusters has run its course, and Hollywood has suffered through two straight record summer box office disasters the last two years. When even The Rock is no longer a guarantor of box office success as with this summers disastrous remake of Bay Watch you know the goose that has laid all these golden eggs is running out of steam.
Its not just movies, its television, too. There was a time when Norman Lear could make a sitcom filled with liberal propaganda, and 25% of the American public would be standing around water coolers and break rooms the next day talking about what Maude or Archie Bunker had to say the previous evening. Now, if a sitcom attracts 2% of the public for an audience it has had a gigantic night.
Hollywood has lost its influence because its little bubble-contained culture became completely antithetical to the real American culture over the last 40 years. Ordinary Americans became sick of having their values lampooned and sensitivities insulted at every turn, and gradually began to realize they could change the channel or simply quit paying to see these awful flicks at the theaters.

They’ve even managed to eff up the superheroes. Wonder Woman had a gay segment in it, all of them have “diversity” and some not so subtle anti-Americanism. That stuff is in our faces in everyday life. I don’t need to pay for more of it because they call it “entertainment “. Die Hollywood. You suck.
It’s true, even though I personally still like the comic book genre, Hollyweird isn’t the powerhouse it once was. People don’t go to the theater like they used to and there are only a handful of truly decent tv shows on during the week and that’s only during the best season (Fall).
I see this as a good thing most but somewhat bad because I like a good show unless I’ve seen a dumb actor go on tv spouting their leftist politics like jennifer lawrence just did (what an idiot); then it taints the show completely. Looking good on screen and being an ‘okay’ actor does not qualify anyone to be an expert in politics. They should enjoy their mega millions and just STFU.
Now is the ideal time for a wealthy, conservative moneybags to create a conservative movie studio. They should use the same concept as did Golan-Globus (Cannon Films) did in the 1980s.
Particularly, they should stay out of the hardtop theaters, and instead produce movies for streaming and DVD sales, and TV shows for streaming and syndication.
The productions should be low budget, ideally between $1-2 million, using little or no CGI, but pay more for screenplays and use live, instead of canned, music. Produce in right to work states with non-union actors and technical people. With such low budgets, even if one in a dozen movies is a hit, it pays for all of them. Very high profit margins.
They should have two different “labels” for their stuff: a totally family-friendly label; and a “more adult” label that can incorporate *some* violence, nudity and bad language. This is what Disney did with its films.
The “more adult” label also can work like Funimation, based in Texas, that releases some of the better, HQ Asian anime in the US. This is because there is a huge library of existing quality anime and Asian movies and TV available, some of which is very good and would sell well in the US.
So what kind of movies would the new conservative movie studio produce? The family side is easier: stories with people with good character, wholesome family stuff, role models, character building, pious religious themes, clarity in right vs. wrong, showing that hard work and honesty pays off; that redemption is possible, and that no member of families is stupid, mean or crude. Emphasis on patriotism and good education.
The more adult side would have Chuck Norris style action, which still sells. National, state and local patriotism. A lot more sexual self-control with the emphasis on religious marriage before sex and children. Old style romance and gender roles. Importantly, minority characters are neither stereotyped nor liberals, can work in any job, but must work. Drugs are not used, except as tragedy. And minimal alcohol as well as tobacco. Not just no sexuality in children, but anti-sexuality.
Lear himself-—an unrequited liberal——said in his autobio he fashioned the series to belittle working class Americans that sounded like Archie.
As you testified, it didn’t have the desired effect. So what-— Lear had tons of money.
In the last analysis, Lear was driven by money. The series was a huge success. He divorced his wife—she got 100 million dollars——safe to assume he had the other half.
Or could have been really good, but were politically unacceptable to Hollywood's liberal stance. Just think of the major events in our history that have never been addressed by Hollywood. The story of America winning the cold war. The story of Stalin's purges. The story of the fall of the Berlin Wall - juxtaposing the totalitarian control of Communism with the freedom of the West. The story of John Paul II and his role in returning freedom to Eastern Europe. The post-Korean war years and the build up of North Korea's nuclear program under our noses. Etc.
You know, Liz, that’s probably why I could never watch that show...It seemed over the top demeaning to a certain class..at the time I was not sure of my own status in the world (I was young and am female)...but the show just was weird to me.
KDramas are better than anything Hollywood puts out.
Ping.
Please don’t wake the undead.
I can’t remember the last time I went to a movie theater...
I do remember the golden era of Hollywood when westerns extolled the virtues of tough individualism, when the bad guy got his comeuppance, and war movies that promoted courage and patriotism, and crime movies where the cops were good and bad guy got caught and paid for his sins, and romantic movies where boys and girls fell in love with each other, got married and started a family...
But that was too boring and predictable for the sixty generation. They traded it for drugs, free sex and rebellious rock and roll. They opted for hip hop morals and burned the old gods of the copybook headings.
But the gods of the copybook headings are starting to get their revenge.
Im sorta glass half full. Maybe the ones they nixed were uplifting, family-friendly & obscenity free and therefore totally unsuited to the dominant Hollywood culture.
And Meathead became the pajama boy.
Subscribe to Filmstruck (Roku) and watch TCM.
During the last election season, when Dinesh D'Souza's Hillary's America was playing. The final scenes made people stand on their feet on the sloping floor of the movie theater and applaud.
Actually, Archie was very much real - he sounded exactly like my Irish American Catholic family who lived in Queens for two generations. That, plus Carroll O’Connors’ brilliant performance, is what made it so popular. Also, as I recall, the Meathead character was a monument to hypocrisy - a freeloading, fake lib who was disliked by all the black characters in the show.
...and it looks like the NFL is right behind them.
