Hollywood as we have known it is dead, yes it is. It survived for years thanks to Americas seemingly insatiable appetite for mindless blockbusters based on mindless comic books. The box office for those blockbusters enabled leftist, anti-American producers to continued doling out millions of dollars to leftist directors to produce unappealing, box-office disaster films filled with leftist propaganda starring modestly-talented, sort of cute leftist actors.
But those days are gone. Americas appetite for mindless comic book blockbusters has run its course, and Hollywood has suffered through two straight record summer box office disasters the last two years. When even The Rock is no longer a guarantor of box office success as with this summers disastrous remake of Bay Watch you know the goose that has laid all these golden eggs is running out of steam.
Its not just movies, its television, too. There was a time when Norman Lear could make a sitcom filled with liberal propaganda, and 25% of the American public would be standing around water coolers and break rooms the next day talking about what Maude or Archie Bunker had to say the previous evening. Now, if a sitcom attracts 2% of the public for an audience it has had a gigantic night.
Hollywood has lost its influence because its little bubble-contained culture became completely antithetical to the real American culture over the last 40 years. Ordinary Americans became sick of having their values lampooned and sensitivities insulted at every turn, and gradually began to realize they could change the channel or simply quit paying to see these awful flicks at the theaters.

The days in which I went for Tuesday cheap nights, subscribed to PREMIERE magazine, rented regularly with Dad’s Beta machine, my those days seem to be very distant now, lol.
I’m getting pretty tired of the constant parade of sadism, snarkiness, miscegnation, deviant sex jokes, dancing around, crappy bombastic music, etc. I mean constant. And that’s just the commercials.
I stopped going to movies years ago.
With the exception bring my family would drag me along.
I think the last movie I saw in a theater was Shrek.
To the extent this is true, it is very, very welcome news.
The pendulum is already swinging to the other side.
If we could Make Hollywood Great Again it would go a long way toward repairing our culture.
Sine I tend to be a glass half empty kind of guy....imagine the movies that Hollywood decided not to make. They must have really sucked.
And that's just on The Disney Channel.
The “willing suspension of disbelief” not working?
It never ceases to amaze me that some people never “GOT” that Norman Lear is an arch manipulator. His Archie Bunker intended to demean Americans, to slap them down for their Archie-ness.
Many people liked Archie.....they figured Archie did and said the things that needed to be said and done.
Go figure.
It’s funny watching Hollywood churn out superhero pictures. The costumes are excellent and CGI has made comic book baddies, explosions, battles, etc. believable on-screen.
But superheroes who were super in part because they represented morality and the righting of wrongs are anathema to amoral Hollywood types, so they have taken to making the superheroes’ secret identities into total bastards or, in some cases, making the superheroes into villains themselves.
Even Thor, for example, who is a god (small g) and not from Earth, is portrayed as a bit of a larrikin when not in costume. Captain America is mocked for his unhip 40s outlook but eventually comes round to being one of the cool kids, led by Robert Downey’s Tony Stark. Of course, Downey is absolutely stealing his paycheck by playing himself when he plays Tony Stark but hey...
I realize that Marvel pioneered the ‘flawed, neurotic personality’ shtick for its characters in the comics even in the 60s but Hollywood has taken it to new levels.
I agree.
Archie was supposed to the enemy.
Instead - he turned into a folk hero.
I miss SGT ROCK.
Today, they would probably portray him as a tranny.
HOLLYWOOD is not dead, it’s evolving, and NETFLIX is making it easier for tech savvy kids and young adults to indulge their craving for violence and filth indulge via the internet and smartphone.

The Soviets had a program decades ago to place their moles into places where they could influence American culture. The moles and their protégés have had a lot of influence for decades. It is good to see that Americans are finally rejecting Soviet influence, at least in Hollywood. But the Soviet influence is still strong in schools, and, unfortunately, has resulted in a large number of young people who have been rendered largely useless. If we want to save our culture and freedom, we must address the problem in schools.
Is humblegunner asleep?
I have a Liberal neighbor who once made some disparaging comment about Archie Bunker and I didn't even think about it, I just said: "I liked Archie. Most people did, really. He was right about almost everything. It was Meathead who was the schmuck."
My neighbor about had a cow. She had clearly never heard anyone support Archie before. This is in MA so not too surprising.
FTA: ‘a culture that rejects obvious scams and blatant disregard for common values is a culture that remains strong at its base.’
He’s talking about Hollywood but he could easily be talking about the Hillary For President campaign.
“...imagine the movies that Hollywood decided not to make. They must have really sucked.”
I’m sorta glass half full. Maybe the ones they nixed were uplifting, family-friendly & obscenity free and therefore totally unsuited to the dominant Hollywood culture.
Easy Company was somehow integrated during WWII. Ironically they haven’t latched onto this.
