...They have been in our country for many years through no fault of their own - brought in by parents at young age. Plus BIG border security— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 14, 2017
Does anybody really want to throw out good, educated and accomplished young people who have jobs, some serving in the military? Really!.....— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 14, 2017
My almost 24 yr old grandson, who did NOT vote for Trump, expressed concern over kids who came here, and them getting “kicked” out. This was about 3 months ago, and I told him...I do not believe Trump will kick them all out. Kids like my grandson have grown up with these kids, not really knowing the situation until now, and so see this as a big deal.
I actually liked trump’s tweets. I also liked that he rolled back DACA and put it in the hands of congress, where it belongs. They need something more than an executive order protecting them while they wait for the other shoe to drop.
This is one of the things he did that I like.
It’s 30 million, not 11 million.
They all need to go home.
Parents who smuggled minors across borders should be charged with human trafficking.
If they are breaking the law then yes.
Illegal aliens are prohibited from enlisting.
So you really believed that congress was going to roll over and pass the Trump agenda?
Read my dozens of past posts, explaining why the congress critters only fear their rich donor class, and not the voter class. They make great speeches during campaigns and publish wonderful sounding TV Ads, and then after the gullible voters have voted them in, they go back to serving their real masters. This is why DC is one giant swamp.
On DACA, tweets are neither legislation or executive orders. It is strictly Trump’s way of communicating with the public. It has no legal binding whatsoever.
In reality, which you both are conveniently overlooking, Trump set a 6 month deadline for congress to pass legislation on DACA. Everyone knows congress will do nothing. Then Trump can deport dreamers and the blame if any will be on the heads of congress.
Who’s dreaming? Amnesty for Millions ... yeah, uh-huh. The dream is just that and it’s been busted since 2006.
Are you a former GW Bush ass-kisser who tried like hell to push massive amnesty in 2006 and got his butt handed to him?
I don’t see any amnesty. I see a massive WALL and a few qualified dreamers staying in the USA.
The parents brought their kids with them when entered America illegally. Those families have overwhelmed our schools, social services, medical care, prisons, etc.
Those “kids” are now called “Dreamers”. That term makes them sound noble and worth being granted amnesty. I’m not buying it.
Where are the parents now? Will they also be given amnesty?
Remember “anchor babies?” That gives the extended families amnesty too. That means grandparents, aunts, uncles and in-laws. Maybe families pets too. That’s not likely, but with dimorats you never know.
It won’t matter what controls are written into the act. The can will be rusting in the ditch again.
Our American kids have dreams too.
Kids are not known for their long range critical thinking.
You are correct.
Trump is a builder. He has to demolish and dump the debris somewhere. He can’t dump into the river.
Also when going through the process of demolition, there are features of the old building that are desirable to preserve such as artworks, sculptures, facades, etc. These things can be gathered and reused. This is how builders think. This is how Trump thinks.
Many of the dreamer kids have been in American schools since kindergarten. They are fully Americanized. They have no place else to go.
Then there is a large fraction who will claim they came here as kids but who are in fact trying to play the system.
The key will be in how it’s managed in immigration offices. Trump will be judged on how well he controls his managers and how well his managers carry out his policy directives.
Nor are a lot of adults
“So you really believed that congress was going to roll over and pass the Trump agenda?”
___
You might consider giving me more a little more credit. Having been around a while, I’ve become a skeptic, especially regarding our government and our elected officials, at all levels. While I always hope for the best I’m never surprised when things turn out badly. Disappointment doesn’t even begin to describe what I feel about the people we elect to represent us and who then betray us. Contempt, perhaps? Probably.
HAHA, ‘ Would be subject to vote’
Already saw that. Too late.
He is demanding that congress pass an amnesty bill to him and re-assures us that congress would have to vote on it.(on that bill that congress passes). DUHHH, when did he learn that principle?
If Trump signs an amnesty bill into law then he owns it, not Ryan, not McConnell and not congress, Trump.
It was he who promised that they all have to go.
There is reason they call it Obamacare and not Pelosi-care and a Trump amnesty bill would be Trump-amnesty.
No Trump will get the blame either way.
He will deserve ALL the blame if he signs an amnesty bill.
But no doubt he will get more praise from the MSM and Dems for that.
No! You are not correct. Do you think every law passed since George Washington is owned by the president? Presidential veto can be over-ridden and it has, many times.
But I can agree if Trump signs an all out amnesty for dreamers bill, he will own half of it. Why half? Because the 535 elected by the people congress critters passed it in the first place.
I am willing to bet all the money in your checking account, this congress will pass no such 100% amnesty bill in 5.5 months remaining in the Trump deadline.
At best (or rather at worst) they might pass a PARTIAL & SELECTIVE amnesty depending on review of EACH INDIVIDUAL case.
I am pro-legal-immigration based on skills or wealth only. That is what New Zealand does, and they have benefited a lot from immigration. Our legal immigrant system is 90-95% based on a relative sponsoring the applicant. We are importing low skilled, low wealth and senior citizens who become eligible for social security checks without having paid a dime in taxes. We are currently importing one million such low skilled, low wealth, or senior LEGAL immigrants EVERY YEAR. That is FAR WORSE by orders of magnitude than any selective dreamer amnesty.
So, I am OK for granting a child who came here at a very young age (my limit would be 10 years) and has acquired important skills, broken no other laws, and has become or will become a PRODUCTIVE citizen. We are the losers for deporting such individual.
However any such selective amnesty must be accompanied by much more effective and selective immigration system, a wall and e-verify system for job applicants. Otherwise count me opposed to ANY amnesty.
No he didnt , he said he might in 6 months and might not, he called on congress to send him an amnesty bill then reassured Dreamers that they are safe with him as POTUS.
That last one Pelosi told him to do so he did.
Dreamers are still renewing their DACAs and all those who were approved <2 years ago are still protected.
Really! Not all of them fit this made up dream citizen. Some are criminals. Some flunked out of high school. Some are on welfare. All have been using false identification as adults (they are not kids anymore). We were not born yesterday!
According to Wika and other sources to be DACA approved they must had a HS degree or GED and no felony or serious misdemeaner offenses.
If they are in DACA then they probably transitioned to a valid identity.
Best part: they must reapply every two years.
I would made them add : no welfare or subsidies or tax credits, must be net taxpayers or getting good grades in college and supporting their dependents without government handouts in the dependents names..
No, he rescinded it, MEANING NO NEW APPLICATIONS. Those who already granted DACA status are in limbo.
Get your facts straight.
