If he can get treated that way, what about the rest of us? one of the Presidents Cabinet secretaries asked me with both shock and anger in his voice. I am told reports about Rex Tillerson (not who I talked to) are legitimate. He is quite perturbed with the Presidents treatment of his Attorney General and is ready to quit. Secretary Mattis (also not who I talked to) is also bothered by it. They and other Cabinet members are already frustrated by the slow pace of appointments for their staffs, the vetoes over qualified people for not being sufficiently pro-Trump, and the Senate confirmation pace.
In fact, the Cabinet secretary I talked to raised the issue of the White House staff vetoes over loyalty, blasting the White House staff for blocking qualified people of like mind because they were not pro-Trump and now the President is ready to fire the most loyal of all the Cabinet members. Its more of a clusterf**k than you even know, the Cabinet secretary tells me about dealing with the White House on policy. It is not just Tillerson ready to bail.
Jeff Sessions was with President Trump early. He was the earliest member of the Senate and the earliest politician of his prominence to come out in support of President Trump. He had his back repeatedly, defended the absurd, and is in the mess he is in because he took on so many duties within the campaign to help the President when few even thought Trump could win.

My question is whether Trump has talked to Sessions about these things and he has refused. We know he has been hinting at wanting them for months.
My thoughts are that he is trying to force a resignation because of the bad PR of firing him, but yeah, this is essentially like firing him if he steps down.
Sessions is the perfect AG for the time.
So we are to believe that the people leading are upset that a shifty slacker is being called out, so much so they are going to quit on America? I call BS.
Erickson can’t wait to stir the pot. The more I think about the Sessions matter, the more I doubt Sessions loyalty. For someone who supposedly had the Presidents back, he sure has not shown it after he was appointed. In fact, it looks like a set up. Session should not have taken the job or he should have resigned as soon as he decided he couldn’t do the job. Either course of these courses of action translate into loyalty to the President. Occupying the post and not performing the job is an extreme disservice to the President. It is almost as if this was Sessions plan from the get go. Now, we have the Never Trumpers jumping on the righteous bandwagon on behalf of Sessions. The other Cabinet members have nothing to fear as long as they do the President’s bidding. The President is a man of action. Non-performers can take a hike and get out of the way.
No Never-Trumper has credibility in this matter, just as no poll can be trusted.
Trump shows a disturbing habit of running his mouth too much and to castigate HIS pick in public like he did with Sessions is just poor leadership. He’s his own worse enemy many times.
I spent many years in mangement in a large corporation. To properly build a team that was creative and productive there were several imperatives in my mangement activities:
Protect my team from the whims of upper management.
Never give an employee a negative public appraisal.
Use every resource available to reward good performance.
Create an enviroment where each person was working for the team, not me.
We did well.
I am not sure Trump is doing these things very well. But then again I was never President.
Let's break this down, shall we?
Slow pace of appointments: How much swamp can be used to drain the swamp? 'Normal' vetting procedures ignore the DC connectivity, so avoiding placing trust in swamp creatures who will be responsible for removing fellow swamp creatures requires extraordinary vetting on Trump's behalf.
Vetoes on people: Given that Trump is a singular person going up against the whole of the swamp (dem and repub), loyalty (real or perceived) to political figures who are part of the swamp is a debilitating defect in a potential appointment.
Senate confirmation pace: Who the heck believes this is Trump's fault, or that he can constructively do anything about it without squandering whatever political capital he has just to push through his nominees? Whatever happened to the President deserving his choice in people, absent blatant evidence of incompetence or criminality?
The Republicna Senators have been useless to date. What have they done for us to,date? NADA!
Well may be Sessions needs to start fighting hard against The Swamp instead of accommodating it, like recusing yourself without warning.
You have a fitting moniker for making that demand.
Little did you know that you were the least useful and most dispensible! Hahahah.
I agree. Back to having your cash taken from you at the airport. Buy a ticket to Detroit returning a few hours later and federal Marshalls will demand to know how much cash you have on you. If they determine you MAY be on a drug buying trip, they take your money. Sessions is a fraud or was compromised by the machine or both.
I don’t believe this.
IF he is the “perfect” AG for the time, how come....
- DOJ not investigating Ukraine involvement in 2016 Elections?
- DOJ not investigating and not prosecuting IRS corruption against Tea Party?
- DOJ not doing ANYTHING regarding Fast and Furious?
- DOJ not .... FILL IN THE BLANKS for God’s sakes?
Well, how about doing the job you were appointed to Do? That’s why you were hired. Sessions has been doing a good job in most areas, but cracking down on property confiscation without judicial hearings and failure to go after the largest ever criminal syndicate in history are huge failures worthy of getting fired
First of all, every cabinet member should be hauled into a press conference and ask if they’re planning on resigning or talking about resigning.
Second, NOBODY outside the DC cabal will ever be confirmed. Recess appointments followed by quick action is Trump’s only choice.
>> I hate to see Sessions lose everything for supporting Trump <<
As the scorpion might have told the frog, “Live by the sword, die by the sword.”
