Much of the difficulty in obtaining the permits necessary for such tests comes from fear. Because self-driving technology is new, because the systems have been involved in incidents in the past, and so on, people arent quite ready to trust the tech.
The governor of Washington state, however, has a different perspective. Governor Jay Inslee signed an order on Wednesday that would allow for autonomous vehicle tests without a human driver behind the wheel. If it doesn’t speed up when you try to pass it, I’m ok with it!

Quality of life soars as time spent in traffic is used productively for work, business or pleasure as the sheer boredom and drudgery of driving gives way to productive uses of the time wasted behind the wheel.
Who’s at blame in a traffic incident?

It’ll probably just take a few high profile lawsuits for carmakers to figure out that having a driver shields them.
