First it was Guy Hunt. Now this character. Is our great state incapable of finding a governor who will do the danged job and not cause these type incidents to embarrass the state?

He needs to be gone.

But where are the democrats who say:

- it’s his PERSONAL business; hey, as long as he’s still doing his job...

-it’s JUST sex...

-there’s a vast left-wing conspiracy at work to smear him!

-Etc, etc, etc..... ?????????

Hopefully he does the smart thing and resigns today like reports seem to be pointing. To drag this out just will make things work. Be a man, face what you did and realize schtupping your top advisor is not what we want from our Governor.

Why stop at Guy and Bentley. Fob James was as corrupt as the day is long, and the last 2 Dems to hold the office (Siegleman and Folsom) are in prison.

The governor’s problems go beyond impeachment and removal from office. He may get prison time before this is all over with. I never liked him but must confess I did not predict THIS.

Governor Robert Bentley’s office in negotiations to set terms of his resignation, sources say

(David Kumbroch; WHNT-19)

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Two sources have confirmed to WHNT News 19 that the governor’s office is currently in negotiations to set the terms of Governor Robert Bentley’s resignation.

However, neither source believed an agreement had been reached.

Resignation negotiations could include agreements on potential criminal charges after the Alabama Ethics Commission found last week that there was probable cause to pursue the governor for breaking state ethics and campaign finance laws.

A spokesperson for the governor tells WHNT News 19, “The Governor is not personally involved in any negotiations.”

That stands in contrast to statements last Friday from the governor himself. He called a news conference on the steps of the capitol hours before the release of an investigative report commissioned by the House committee looking at impeaching the governor. There, the governor assured that he would not resign.

----------------------

My personal bet? He's now trying to avoid prosecution for the legal violations... but that won't be up to the Legislature: it will be all about a DA's decision.

For anyone wondering, Bentley is a centrist Republican (no insult intended) and a bona-fide lout.

Very little indication of this kind of behavior when he first ran. Rumors started getting ugly about a year ago.

I waited to see what the official investigation revealed. He needs to be tarred and feathered and removed from office. He has NO DEFENSE WHATSOEVER for his actions as Governor.

I would not expect much intelligence from any believing Lincoln was a “tyrant.”

No, Senators and Representatives can only be removed by their respective houses. This is rarely done.

Lincoln could be interpreted as a “Tyrant”. If you suspend parts of the Constitution then what are you?

It’s like saying we have to suspend the Constitution to save the country and your rights under the Constitution.

Lincoln did what was necessary in war times. It did hurt the traitors’ attempt to destroy the Union. Fortunately, he did not hesitate to do what was necessary to defeat the Rat Rebellion.

It is called “statesmanship” and is as far as one can get from a tyrant.

Lighten up, Francis.

It a Southern joke, and I was talking about those old Southerners; grandchildren, and even sons and daughters of Confederate soldiers from yesteryear.
