Ramifications of California voting for secession
Myself ^ | 10 February 2017 | MeganC

Posted on 02/10/2017 11:11:01 AM PST by MeganC

There are some people in California currently gathering signatures to get an initiative on the ballot to change the language in California's constitution to allow California to secede from the USA. If it passes the law will also put a question on yet another future ballot asking if Californians want to secede. If the vote is yes then it becomes their declaration of independence.

It might happen. I won't rule it out especially after 2016 in which so many 'impossible' things happened.

So what happens if California votes to secede?

Well, before they vote on independence but after they vote to enable secession I hope that Congress first acts to keep the loyal counties of California within the USA. The precedent is West Virginia being severed from Virginia when Virginia seceded. Congress can create the State of Jefferson and include the counties that want to leave California anyway. I hope they do.

California cannot be allowed to use the US dollar. If they leave they must be immediately cut off from our banking system. Otherwise they will use their access to wage economic mayhem against us and they'll also use the dollar to prop up their economy.

The US will need to think about what to do with Californians who wish to flee to loyal states. We'll also need to think about how to treat those who stay. After what point will we consider Californians to be foreigners?

The US needs to withhold funding for all long-term infrastructure projects in California. Governor Jerry Brown wants the rest of us to pay for his choo-choo train and for his hundred-billion dollar Delta Tunnels project - which will funnel water to disloyal Southern California. I know I don't want Wyoming footing part of the bill for this.

What do we do when California inevitably allies itself with Russia and/or China? Will we allow the Russians and or the Chinese to base ships, planes, and troops in California? Because you know they will.

One thing I think should also be done is to cease the recognition of all academic degrees from California and to remove California educated academics from American schools and universities. Don't let them spread the contamination!

Just starting the discussion and hoping that anyone in California who supports secession will maybe see some of the ideas we all post here and then take a moment to consider the potential downsides of their independence.

The real secession will be conservative CA from moonbeam CA. MD, IL, NY, PA, VA - there is a deep divide in these states that can not be reconciled. They must have the right of secession from their other half.
Progressives are demonstrating their absolute opposition toward accepting conservative government. It is not a contest for them. It is all or nothing. There is no peaceful transfer of power. There is war, nothing less.
The attitude of the left is that conservativism creates hatred. The source of that hatred is progressives are unwilling to acknowledge any legitimacy to conservative government. They are begging to be stopped, cold. Progressive politics is the enemy of the republic. They said so and I believe them.

1. Immediately recognize the 12 counties of the State of Jefferson as the 50th state to replace CA

2. Disestablish all military bases and facilities in CA and PCS all active duty and families to other bases.

3. Lock up access to the Colorado River for use only by the United States of America.

4. Hand the CA government a bill for its portion of the national debt — based on population, that would come to $2 trillion, payable in US currency, gold or real estate assets.

5. Advise all recipients that any and all pension programs back up or provide by the federal government will terminate upon secession. They will then remove themselves and their money and assets from CA forthwith.

For those asking, "What is Texas vs White?":

Texas v. White, (1869), U.S. Supreme Court case in which it was held that the United States is “an indestructible union” from which no state can secede.

I’m surprised at the so called secession argument. The issue was solved by blood in 1865.

I've written a little script, the opening for my new American made, NOT Hollywood movie about the future...

(Man in big car pulls up to new California-USA border crossing--close to Jim Robinson's house (which is in the USA)))

(Man steps out. He slowly walks up to gate. He is a movie producer)

Producer (P): Hi, can I cross?

Border Guard (BG): So, Senor Big Shot Producer? How many California Pesos did your new movie make?

Producer (P): Oh, you mean Slap and Punch Trump?

BG: Yeah, the new one with Roberto Dinero and Mayrelera Stripo?

P: A billion C Pesos!

BG: That's great!
(Pulls out US $ to C Peso calculator) BG: Ooohhhh! That's over $50 bucks! Nice job!
P: So, can I cross?
BG: Ah... No.

(Producer sadly turns away. Gets in car. Car slowly drives off, leaving a huge cloud of dust as it leaves, due to environmental concerns about not using snail darter's water, and the USA cutting Lake Meade pipeline to the Republic of California...)

Never gonna happen. The Democrat party will do to California what the Democrat party did to Bernie Sanders.

The democrat party will not allow 55 reliable electoral votes to just go away.

Personally, I say let it happen so we can watch when the democrat party, at the national and state level, stomps on the secession organizers necks to make sure this will not happen.

The California libs will splinter giving conservatives a chance to turn the state red, or at the very least, putting the state in play for future presidential elections.

Won’t ever happen. Fake news. Moonbeam would have to do it all on his own. Most working Californians would like to plant a size twelve in the crotch’s of these blathering socialists.

Not very well understood is that two thirds of California’s water comes from groundwater and one third from reservoirs and aqueduct system (the water system).

The one third from reservoirs mainly supplies farmers on the West Side of the Central Valley and the bulk of the population in Southern California. But two thirds of that one third comes from the Federal Central Valley Project and the federal regulated Colorado River.

So 2/3rds of the lifeline pumped water system is owned and operated by the Federal government. BUT the state gets to control how that Federal water is allocated (to cities or farms).

Trump was right, there was no California drought (just a structural water shortage) and Trump fulfilled his promise and got the water gates opened up to farmers even before installed in office because Sen. Dianne Feinstein was afraid Trump would abolish the Environmental Protection Act if they didn’t get water to the farmers (proving there was no drought).

19 million Southern Californians rely on 25% of their water from the Colorado River/Lake Mead.

They already take 30% from Nor.Cal.

California has an ocean for water, but the lunatic environmentalists, which run state policy, are against desalination. Reason - It would make the ocean too salty!

Lunatics All.

The nutty state supreme court, maybe just a tad to the right of the 9th circus, will declare the referendum issue invalid before it is allowed onto the ballot. Even these nuts know such a move would be disaster. No liberal judge votes conservative on any issue unless it affects them directly and this would.

So what happens if California votes to secede?

Easy, President Trump declares Martial Law and sends in the Military to take the entire State Government into Custody, they will be Tried for TREASON and upon Conviction summarily Executed.
A Military General assumes control of the TERRITORY that was once known as California.

Then the People get to vote to decide if they want Statehood or not.

GAME OVER!

” After what point will we consider Californians to be foreigners? “

About half of them actually are foreigners.

Texas vs. White determined that states CAN leave the Union, it only requires ‘consent of the states’ to leave.

consent of the states has been interpreted to mean 2/3 of state legislatures agreeing

given 33 of 50 state legislatures are R majority, thinking it’s a slam dunk California will be quickly granted consent

I’ve heard much about this intent by the state of California ... It appears to me that only the Coastal cities would leave the rest of the state (and other parts) are largely conservative so they would probably join the state of “Jefferson”.

and as for the parts that would leave they wouldn’t last a year on their own. Maybe they would merge with Venezuela and create that perfect socialist state. Ha Ha
