Ultimately, time passes. Time heals. I hope some day we could become non unfriend
This 18 month long and polarizing American election has been truly surreal+absurd.
One of the truly strange effects of this election is that certain of my female friendships that had endured for decadesthrough good times and bad times; through career highs and career failures; through personal disappointment;through joy, happiness and the thrill of victory and personal achievement; through marriages, children, divorce, sickness and even death of loved ones or partners; basically, through life- the good, the very bad and the truly uglycould not withstand this friggin election.
That’s to be expected. I have family members that have done the same. So much for their so called “Inclusion”!
All else follows from that.
I wrote a niece out of my will. It was a $250,000 error on her part to call me a fascist.
I thought the RATs were supposed to be tolerant and inclusive.
That’s what they and the MSM talk about all the time.
DANG!
You go!
It’s as simple as Michael Savage’s ‘Liberalism is a mental disorder.’ Take if from there. Most answers about liberal ‘friends’ attitudes and responses can find root in that concept.
I met a lovely woman on line and we agreed to meet. I would drive 180 miles to meet her (I live in a small town, miles from anywhere). I was halfway there when she texted me to say that after seeing my facebook page she’d rather not meet me.
Another woman I met on line invited me to lunch. We knew we disagreed over Trump but she said, “well, we don’t need to talk politics!” I drove about 120 miles to meet her for lunch. At lunch, she quickly brought up politics and everything went downhill from there.
This happened a couple more times (without the long drives). Finally, I’ve decided to only meet women from Asia. They don’t care about our politics.
Me too... a nephew whom I love has blocked me. Sad.
Can I be your niece? ;)
We are going to see my sister in law after Christmas.
She lives in urban Wisconsin and, well....you know the rest.
My wife told me in no uncertain terms “No politics”.
Like hell....I am going to spike the football and do an end zone dance!!!
Then I’ll get a space heater for my garage cause I’m guessin I’ll be spending more time than usual there.
You have a point. OTOH, right now I have a cold and no interest in doing anything productive.
I find pissing off liberals to be quite fun. Not much of a challenge, of course. But fun.
It’s not like the 1950’s, when Jimmy Stewart, a very prominent Conservative, and Henry Fonda, a leading Liberal, could remain close, personal friends.
It all changed in ‘72 when they adopted Alinsky’s politics of personal destruction IMHO. You can’t even have a rational conversation with these people anymore.
If you really want to piss her off, put in the will it will be donated to the conservative PAC of your choice...............
Kudos, hope you leave her a note in your will about how she has treated you and what she missed out on.
But I heard that couple on Catholic radio yesterday talk about toxic relationships and my relationship with that side of the family has been somewhat toxic for decades... especially since my brother died. They are all dems although some pretend to be Catholic. My niece was laughing about her 8 year old daughter dissing Trump after the election. I called her on it and wow, the bullying began. All I said was that we should respect the office. If you go back and look at my posts on Facebook and Freepers, I never called Obama names. I did criticize his policies. That’s how I roll. That’s what I was taught as a child. Oh well.
Excellent.
People without souls become Democrats.
Hope you told her that.
Where do I apply to become your nephew?
