Ivy League colleges are turning into ruthless PC prisons
NY Post ^ | 12/5/16 | Kyle Smith

At both Harvard and Columbia this fall we’ve seen how students who dare to privately act out against PC standards are inspiring crazed nuclear strikes from campus administrators. This disproportionate punishment is, in turn, bound to create both more rebels flouting norms and more wusses and tattletales passive-aggressively seizing power by parading their phony wounds.

Best line of the story: "Columbia’s immediate response was, like Harvard’s, as dumb as treating your toe fungus by sawing off your foot." Being a fungus, I empathize.

They seem to forget that these sexist miscreants are paying mucho thousands of dollars per annum for the privilege of this abuse. Nothing could please me more than seeing the whole thing crash and burn.

Well, “dream on,” maybe, but it’s close to that!

Never read it, but "looked it up" lately and read excerpts. It's completely whacked. This crazy vision was supposed to have transpired in what? ... the 1980's ? At the latest! And here we are now with Facebook and all the rest. What the heck.

Harvard has an female president that has proclaimed, for those entering in the Fall of 2017, a mandatory course in permanently having your head up your colon.

Exactly.

NO GUARANTEED STUDENT LOANS.

We need to purge media and academia of the political left. That’s where they brainwash the youth and clueless.

Never knew. I’m pretty sure the Hugh Barrett version was the one I heard on my sister’s RP circa 1960. I thought it was a B-side, but I guess not, as it’s listed as “There Was A Fungus Among Us / Got The Bull By The Horns” And I don’t even recall GTBBTH.

Got the Bull By the Horns was a Johnny Horton opus from '56.

On a couple of occasions, I met Dante of Dante and the Evergreens, Hugh Barrett's label mate.

Obama had made NO BONES about making Big Coal the enemy — “We will bankrupt you”.

That’s honesty.

WHY do we permit federal backing of ETERNAL student loans for fake, scammer degrees with ZERO value..?

Don’t change the law —Trump should just PenAndPhone Fed backed loans for liberal arts scammer degrees out of existance:

1. They enrich liberal Universities

2. They permit political indoctrination of our enemies

3. They enslave the sucker students FOREVER —the loans can’t be discharged via bankruptcy

In many cases the University outright OWNS the collector agencies who chase the students down —is THAT enabling their futures or CHOKING THEM OUT..?

We should be quite as honest as the left about making war upon them:

“The business of the American people CANNOT be delayed via congressional bickering, I’m ordering the Dept of Education to discontinue student loans for sociology, English, and ANYTHING ending in ‘-studies’...”

He should do that on his FIRST day in office, then extend it to cover ALL liberal arts majors for ALL US universities.

They’re the enemy, right? Let’s ACT like it.

This crazy vision was supposed to have transpired in what? ... the 1980's Check the copyright I believe it's a 1950s book. I think the left loves it because it's about banning and burning books. Which the left detests until students start reading conservative material then we need to ban and burn books.

Check the copyright I believe it's a 1950s book.

Of course, I was referring to the presumed time of the events in the book. This is not explicitly indicated, but furthermore, I don't see any discussion of it by internet search.

I think it has to be presumed to be the "near future" from the time of writing, since the whole thing was a commentary on contemporary trends, as seen by the author, and I'll stand by the 1980's as a general time frame.

Whatever the case, our technology and culture have evolved well past the sociological and technological presumptions of the book, and I don't see how the novel can stand as any kind of warning to us in this era.
