Jay Michaels wrote recently here at American Thinker of the lack of Trump yard signs this election compared to the number of Mitt Romney signs back in 2012. Back then, in his solidly middle-class neighborhood of cops, nurses, teachers, plumbers, electricians, landscapers, small business owners, and retirees, there were Romney signs displayed on the lawns of twenty percent or so of the 130 homes. Now there are no Trump counterparts.
Michaels concludes that this lack of signage is indicative of less support for Trump, with a supportive theory that it may be a matter of marital political discordance, where wives are less inclined to vote for Trump because of the candidates boorish behavior toward women. However, a quick survey of the many comments following the article will quickly disabuse you of that as the primary cause for the lack of Trump signage. Far and away, the most frequently expressed reason for failure to publicly demonstrate a citizens loyalty and support for The Donald with signs or bumper stickers has nothing to do with domestic disagreement within the home, but rather with liberal Democrat lawlessness.
Comment after comment to Michaels article reveals a reluctance to publicly declare ones political stance for fear of signs of being stolen and homes and yards vandalized, or, especially in the case of bumper stickers, with ones car being keyed by inspired members of that mob of supporters of free speech and inclusivity who support Hillary Clinton. Those comments came from wide swaths of this country and, quite sadly, represent a reality that this old man never thought hed live to see: Americans afraid to publicly post their political loyalties for fear of retribution from disagreeable fellow citizens....

I live in New Jersey, saw maybe a couple Romney signs at most, no MCCAIN signs
But everywhere I go, I see Trump signs, the official ones from the campaign and giant hand made ones on 4x8 pieces of plywood, just saw a giant Trump banner in front of a million dollar plus home in Millstone.
I have never seen so many signs
I don’t know where this guy lives, he lives in an anomaly or he is trying to demoralize and hold back Trump supporters

To quote the turtles in the final frame of the Bugs Bunny "Tortoise and Hare" cartoon ...
"Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ... It's a poss-i-bil-iTY !!!!!!!!!!"
I haven’t put a political bumper sticker on my car for many years. One got keyed and another had the door bashed in a parking lot. These were during prior campaigns - 2004 and 2008. I’m a GOP committee person in our community. When yard signs were passed out, most of our committee expressed concern about putting out the Trump signs because of sign theft or vandalism. They’re mostly holding them until election day so that we at least have a sign or two to place near polling locations.
Lots in rural Iowa and Wisconsin too. Saw more “Hillary for Prison” signs than the other kind.
Rub your signs with Poison Ivy. Make the scum pay a painful price for their acts. Worked for me! Neighbors kid had Poison Ivy all over!
We had two yard signs as soon as we could get them.
Probably about a year ago?
We put one of them out in the yard.
It was stolen about a week later.
We put the other one in the window, but I took it down and put it away because I was afraid someone would actually break our window to get it.
Some people don’t want to risk putting up a Trump sign and risk Game and Fish charging them for hunting over a baited field.
A confrontation in some people’s yard could escalate to a serious situation.
I had a Duncan Hunter sticker on my car for about six years.
I wanted to plainly state that I didn’t support any of the posers in 2008 and 2012.
Great idea. I need to do that!
Here in western WA the only yard signs are for Johnson. But they aren’t in yards.
Now bumper stickers are a different matter. Several for Trump, which surprises me every time. The Hillary stickers are few with most being the “for prison” variety.
Count me as thinking the author doesn’t know what he’s talking about. A lot of Trump signs around Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota, including the Hillary behind bars graphic.
Personal knowledge of some situations indicates some traditional Republicans are not putting up signs this cycle out of fear, but are definitely voting Trump.
IF he has a friend without signs in a neighborhood where there used to be plenty, the locality has probably changed the sign laws.
Oh-lost my train of thought.
What I was getting to before it derailed was the only reason my car didn’t get vandalized was probably because nobody around here had ever even heard of Duncan Hunter.
They probably thought my bumper sticker was a gag like my son’s Trump-Sanders 2016 sticker.
No, they hope you’ll walk out to your car and say, “Oh! Lucky I wasn’t keyed...guess I’ll keep my Trump support under wraps”.
I there wasn’t this intimidation the display of Trump signs and such would be a clear indicator that fraud was committed when they declare Hillary the winner.
My neighborhood in Blue Western Washington State (You go East of the Cascades and you’re back in the lands of the sane) was festooned in Obama stickers and signs for the last two elections and “Impeach Bush” signs before that.
We have one forlorn Hillary sign visible now. I’ve seen more for Gary Johnson than for Hillary, and even a couple Trump signs.
My wife isn’t a fan of Trump, but she hates Hillary. Thus, no sign at my house, but when a liberal neighbor who knows me enough to guess at my preferred candidate asked where my Trump sign was, I pointed to Old Glory and said, “there it is. Don’t need another”.
I think it pissed him off, but the Volvo in his driveway that was plastered with “Question Authority” during the Bush years, and “Obama/Biden” after that is devoid of any political stickers at all.
The obvious lack of enthusiasm for Crooked here in the heart of Code Pink country gives me great hope.
Hillary for Prison.
From what I’ve seen around here, Hillary for President and Hillary for Prison signs are about equal in number.
My daughter and son-in-law put out Trump signs and they were stolen. They got more and then their house started being egged. They got camera’s and caught someone on camera egging so they posted it on Facebook. Since then no more egging or stealing signs.
Then why didn’t you get up and go outside ?
Good Lord, no wonder these liberal SOB’s get away with any and everything . . . sheesh.
There were 3 Trump signs in front of houses on a street in my neighborhood. The day after Trump’s Bill Bush tape was released, two of them were gone, and remain gone.
When you live in the boonies there’s nobody to see a yard sign. They can probably figure it out if they hear target practice tho.
