The Brits are coming for our po' boys, our music, and our swamp tours.
A deep-seated curiosity about America's cultural and political history brings international travelers south, in droves.
It will probably come as no surprise that for the more than 3.8 million Brits who travel to the United States each year, their most-visited regions stateside are California and the Northeast. But over the past 18 months, travel agents in the U.K. have noticed a surprising surge in inquiries around trips to the Deep Southmaking it the third most-requested destination at travel agencies such as Audley, who curate individual itineraries for clients.
"There's been a real spike in demand in the last 18 months for the Deep South," Alex Bentley, Audley's head of North America, tells Condé Nast Traveler. Some of the company's most popular programs sends clients on self-guided drives through New Orleans to Mobile Bay, through Georgia and the Carolinas, and to explore the music scene and bourbon distilleries in Tennessee and Kentucky, respectively. "There's great growth in that part of the countryit's now our third most-popular region after California and New England. There's something there that really resonates with our clients."
In part, this renewed curiosity is rooted in a search for an authentically American experienceand an interest in our country's culture and history, says Bentley...

And a wee dram for the damp.
Maybe some Brits looking for a safe space now that Britain is becoming part of the caliphate?
I’ll see their fish and chips and raise a pulled pork bbq with sides of mustard greens and grits and a tall iced tea.
I would tell them (or any tourist, for that matter) to visit Montgomery, AL. What a jewel that city has become! From the visitor center (old Union Station) on the river to the Rosa Parks Museum and the Southern Poverty Law Center Civil Rights Memorial, it’s a place of history to be cherished and remembered.
I have a friend from Singapore who just visited Nashville and discovered Country Music
I’ll give you Union Station and the RP museum.....but the Southern Poverty Law Center?
Are you being sarcastic? You don’t know much about Morris Dees. He’s about as lunatic fringe left-wing-squirrel-turdy-nut job as they come. If i recall, FreeRepublic was/is one of his pet projects meant for destruction.
>> In part, this renewed curiosity is rooted in a search for an authentically American experience
Authenticity? Every corner and enclave of the States has something uniquely Americana and authentic to offer.
>> Are you being sarcastic?
LOL... the Southern Law Poverty Pimps...
I would encourage anyone to visit the places along our beautiful Gulf Coast from Texas back to Florida. Beaches, historic sites, great food, wonderful folks with all sorts of accents and cultural influences, great music and art... Something for the international and even fellow American visitors to consider: the Deep South is an amazing blend of British, French, Spanish, African, and Native American cultures, with other European and even Asian communities contributing their influences, too. It’s beautiful, hot, humid and has scary critters, but I wouldn’t trade it for any other place! Proud to be a GRITS (Girl/grandmother raised in the South) and an American!:)
You can now remove that tongue that is firmly implanted in your cheek, lol.
Montgomery?
STOP THEM!!!
THEY’LL MOVE THERE AND VOTE ULTRA LIB!!!
We’ve had a Brit restaurateur in north ATL for 20-25 years. He has a local chain of 10-12 Brit pubs. He does pub food right, has great fish and chips. How can you not love that?
I found the inclusion of the southern racist center to be extremely funny, side splittin!
“I have a friend from Singapore who just visited Nashville and discovered Country Music”
Amazing, I didn’t think there was any left in Nashville.
+1,000,000
And f$ck his little sycophant scumbag monkey Mark Potok, too. He is, if anything, worse than your description above.
It’s because CA and NYC no longer look like US cities.
As we always say: Welcome to Florida! Now go home. Heh.
Hah, yeah, show 'em Detroit at night. Or the south side of Chicago !
