What killed the dinosaurs? Its a question as old as well the dinosaurs themselves, and one that everyone from school children to scientists have been asking for decades. Movies like Jurassic Park and the Land Before Time only heighten that sense of wonder and raise the stakes behind that question. Now according to a new scientific study, it seems that black gold may have been the source of the dinos demise.
Japanese researchers at Tohuku University and the Meteorological Research Institute authored a recent study in the research journal Scientific Reports suggesting that a meteor impact 66 million years ago on an oil rich region of Yucatan Peninsula led to the death of the dinosaurs. When the asteroid hit the vast oil deposits of Mexico, it sent thick black smoke into the atmosphere, changing the climate around the world. That soot blocked out the sun leading to a significant cooling of the planet. Equally importantly, it also led to a substantial drought around the world.

Awesome...then oil truly is man’s best friend. It cleared the Earth for us to dominate, and now fuels our cars.
Thanks, that’s what I thought too.
I’m really about ready to throw up my hands at the entire world.
Surely their remains are part of the bio-mass that comprises what we call crude oil. Not all of it. That's absurd.
Or, so we've been told, ad infinitum, et ad nauseum, et ad absurdum. If the oil was in the ground when they walked the earth alive, then the stuff we've been told is obviously bunkum, so the question begs, which is true?

Oil's biological origin is likely from something like plankton. Though I do think there is a case to be made for abiotic oil. For example there is methane in space. The Gas giants - Jupiter, Saturn ,etc are almost all methane in gas form, liquid form, slush form & in solid form. Also other hydrocarbons have been found in interstellar clouds and every year radio & optical astronomers find more complex hydrocarbons out there.
They are still around they're just in syndication.
This was actually the thrust of my post. We've been 'conditioned' all our lives to think of biotic oil. This was not accidental, but purpose driven. Since this new 'theory' for the mass extinction of the dinosaurs calls into question the very 'facts' that underlie the conditioning, one needs to wonder what game is being played *now*, by whom, and for what end?

That is truly a real tragedy.
These environmentalists put these ugly windmills all over the place, ruining the landscape, and at the same time, the windmills are killing birds and bats (who eat tons of mosquitoes).
The law of unintended consequences at work.
I personally think that paper was ridiculous!
I also think you’re looking for conspiracies that aren’t there.
OH well, at least Don, Jr. did good. I really like that guy, have since seeing him on the apprentice.
And I’m LOVING my audio book, an Agatha Christie read by Hugh Fraser, it’s great.
So, I try to focus on the positive!
As we all should, FRiend. :)
Agathie Christie was an amazing writer. As an aspiring writer, I really find her amazing. :)
And as for Don Jr., well, I loved watching him on that show. I thought he was great.
People will remember the Apprentice and the Celebrity Apprentice (where everyone gave money to charities).
I did not see all of his speech, because my Canadian family isn't so interested in this convention, but I saw about half of it this morning on youtube.
He did very well.
Mr. Trump has a fantastic, intelligent, hard-working family. They will be amazing in the White House.
Note: this topic is from . Thanks bananaman22 for the topic, and thanks fanfan for pinging me, must have been during my exile, anyway, I'd missed it until now.
This is when Earthquaker State got its start.
