Donald Trump's unconventional campaign is about to feel the heat of political organization.
Hillary Clinton and her Democratic allies have invested at least $41 million in commercials in crucial states such as Ohio, Florida and Nevada over the next six weeks, a series of summer broadsides against her Republican opponent. Those messages will be echoed by hundreds of Clinton workers in those same states and amplified by President Barack Obama and other top Democrats.
Trump has made few preparations for contending with that sort of well-oiled political machine. His campaign has no advertising plans and is just now hiring employees in important states. Republican leaders are far from in agreement on how best to talk to voters about the polarizing billionaire, or if they will at all. And Trump is running out of time: Early voting starts in Iowa in just 3 1/2 months.
"It's political malpractice," said Mitch Stewart, Obama's 2012 battleground states director and a Clinton backer. "He's in for a rude awakening. This isn't a national vote contest where you can be on cable news every day and dominate coverage. This is literally going state by state and coming up with a plan in each."

I don’t think so..............
Unless it is a fraudulent election, Trump will win...
Lol! Trump can take that campaign down with well timed Twitter comments and campaign vids on YouTube
There are some brilliant videos already out there
They need to go viral
This is a brilliant point that needs to be echoed. TV viewership is way down and falling. This summer will be down even further as people go outside. If Clinton wants to waste $$ on TV commercials now.... Let her.
No one watches tv anyway...
The media works fully for the Democrats. This includes Facebook, Yahoo and Google — places where a large percentage get their news. The past 2 weeks have been a taste of things to come. Trump does not appear to have an adequate answer. He only appears to be reacting to the media attacks, not setting the agenda as he did previously.
Oh, look! Another NeverTrump, sore cRuzer supported butt hurt article ;-)
Aaah, but, Jarhead, you were a Cruz guy as I remember. The admirable thing about Cruz was his calling out of McConnell and the like for their lack of attire. But, in the end his campaign used a traditional model. Trump has gone where no man has gone before, and events have a tendency to move things irrespective of how one campaigns. Hillary using recycled Jeb ads, which she appears to be doing are ignored, and a signal to go to the fridge and get another can of Diet Coke.
The headline implies that Trump hasn’t been getting attacked the entire time
Trump has plenty of time...Obama, Hillary and the GOPe have a couple of months more to screw the country up...They are pushing people to Trump...Trump's got the right message...
I love reading FR’S keyboard warriors telling Trump how to run his campaign. Trump’s been doing just fine; he knows who he’s up against.
The Dems are all upset over people wearing the shirt that tells it all.
Just think of the almost endless supply of ammunition that Trump has. I hope there’s enough time between now and November for him to use a lot of it.
That may what he believes and what some supporters believe but that leads to him being landslided along with house, senate, govs and courts in my opinion.
Don’t forget ‘92.
A third party nutball with NO “ground game” who was in the race...out of the race...and then back in the race, garnered 19% of the vote!
The only “ground game” Trump needs is poll watchers with attys. at consistantly late reporting, overwhelmingly RAT voting polling places in swing states.
"...watta they gonna do,sing off key?"
This election will not be decided by 30 second commercials.
Commercials only work when there is little difference between the candidates and some minor detail can tip voter preference one way or the other. Not the case with Trump vs Hillary.
Those in favor of muslim migration will vote Hillary. Those against will vote Trump. Those in favor of amnesty will vote Hillary. Those against will vote Trump. Those in favor of nation building wars in Syria and Yemen will vote Hillary. Those against will vote Trump.
All the rest is just noise. Just like it was in the primary. This election will be decided by the issues.
If Hillary wants to win, she should spend her money convincing people that muslim migration is a good thing. Spending $20 million on Trump University attack ads is a waste of money. Jeb already tried. He lost because he was on the wrong side of the issues in immigration, foreign policy, etc
This has got the be the best question of the day!!!
I don’t think the DNC have realized, WE DONT WATCH OR LISTEN to their trash anymore....
I hope she spends her whole Clinton RICO mafia Crime Family funds on this election, she still isn’t going to win...
I agree with this, the early negative ads are a problem. Trump needs to spend someone’s money on this. Ours or his.
This is the first election where passive TV isn’t something that is common for most Americans.
I haven’t seen an actual TV political ad since 2008 because I simply dont have a setup where I have to passively look at TV ad breaks. Internet and DVR negated that crap, leaving those that spends 10s of millions on it, basically tossing their money into the toilet for people like me.
(looking at you Jeb)
I also dont go seeking out YouTube copies of those ads.
For every million dollars of advertising placed the political wonks get a 15% spiff. Typically we are talking several millions that go to various Washington DC players in both parties. Trumps campaign game plan will be run as a business and he will do his best to place ads on a net-net basis saving the 15%. This is one reason that the GOPe is up in arms.
