I contacted my local Sikh temple to tell them that online conservatives are aware that Sikhs are often very concerned at times like this, that we try to educate and inform and are with them. I hope you do, too.
Pardon the vanity, please.
That’s nice.
Freepers, of course, know the difference. We have plenty of Sikhs where I own a home, as well as Hindus and unfortunately, muzzies.
Kudos...
Is this because you believe Sikhs are the next likely target of Muslims, of conservatives, or of wackos wanting to hurt people with cloth on their heads?
We had a Sikh temple in my old home town. They were nice people, all of them.
I like Sikhs.
They fight and hate muslims.
and nothing against Sikhs, Hindu, Buddhists et al... we just have waaaaay too many foreign born people now. I travel on domestic business and many times I feel like I’m the foreigner in certain locations.
Sikhs have been attacked and even murdered in the United States after Muslim atrocities, by yahoos who consider themselves Christian conservatives. It's a fact. Which is why I too let a neighborhood Sikh know this morning that not everyone is confused about their religion. He was grateful for the comment. I recommend FReepers make similar efforts.
Sikhs are decent,moral people.
I had to fly shortly after 9-11. They re-assigned my seat, and it turns out this older Sikh gent in a turban, wearing an “I love the USA” jacket, was somehow seated next to me, in between about four other guys who were either short haired military types or big, strapping civilians.
I told him it was pretty silly, but he insisted that it was quite alright. “I feel very safe where I have been seated!”
I can’t imagine the airline pulling that now, because it might offend someone.
No, people confuse Sikh turban with Afghan head gear.
A number of Sikhs in our area. There is a temple walking distance from my house. I was happy to see it open up. Hope no one mistakenly gives them any trouble.
I know! Where I am on weekends, it’s like being in a foreign country. I don’t like it.
I like Sikhs. When I meet a turbaned one and find their name is Singh or Kaur, and I feel very safe.
“I like Sikhs.
They fight and hate muslims.”
Amen. And there’s no polls to show it, and few efforts to court their vote, but I’ll bet my scramaseax they were overwhelmingly pro-Trump before this ever happened. No people are perfect but I would welcome any devout Sikh into my foxhole sight unseen. That’s a rare statement to make about any group of people.
A wacko killed a Sikh in Arizona right after 9-11 thinking he was a Muslim.
.
Bingo.
Best and nicest guys I ever met.
They love being American...
Hindus and Sikhs follow the code of the Sanatana Dharma, which I jut read a summation of as any religion is good AS LONG AS IT RESPECTS THE SPIRITUAL FREEDOM OF OTHERS. I like it.
They believe in reincarnation instead of Jesus.
