So, here's the story...
In less than 72 hours I will be out of my home of... well, a long time. It's been in my family for fifty years. But since my father passed away it's being sold by others and I'm looking for a new place to hang my hat.
But during the past several months God has been telling me something, in ways large and small. That being: it's time to get out of this town. Time to step away from your comfort zone. Time to take a leap of faith.
So I've packed up my car with the bare essentials and some things from across my life and made room for one miniature dachshund who may or may not play navigator. We're all set to go...
...but I don't know where to.
So... freepers... if I'm coming from the south-eastern United States, where in this country could a boy and his dog find a place with good industry/careers, a fairly conservative atmosphere, strong spiritual community, and all-around good place to have a family. Because I do want a family.
I can literally go anywhere. Dad made sure I was left with quite a bit and it's plenty enough for a good start.
I'm trusting in God bigtime on this. Now, if only I knew where He needed me to go. Maybe some of you can help me figure that out.
Prayers for your journey!
My old hometown is going overboard with political correctness. It removed a Confederate monument that had stood for over a century, if that says anything. This is not a place to have a family. No future here, no work. I’m a freelancer and can be anywhere. But not here. This is no place for a young man who is coming out of years of some very rough life, to get that fresh crack at life.
May God bless and care for you my FRiend!
Prayers up for you.
God will provide :-)
Trust the dog.
Try the Suburbs of Houston
Otherwise ship the car to Guam. It is like the US 4-50 years ago.
Couer D’Alene ID.
I recommend reading Luke 10 and Acts 16 for inspiration. May you be blessed on your journey.
Plains states. Cheap housing (nice old houses), always looking for workers, people want to know where you go to church (they assume you do) and tend to go Red during election. Also states like So Dakota don’t have personal income tax and do have good gun laws.
My family and I are planning to move to Coeur d’alene in 2 years. Do you live there?
If you want great weather and fast property appreciation with low taxes, Murrieta, California is my choice. You can go to the mountains or the ocean or the desert in less than two hours
If you want to meet a nice girl to marry, Central Texas around Austin is great.
Drive up to where I live, Alaska. Fairly conservative, extremely laxed gun laws, and there is tons of work opportunities up here. Bonus: we are far away from all the BS in the lower 48, i.e riots, looters, and community organizing SJW’s. And the absolute beauty of the land is well worth it.

I like the West, mountains, scenery, wilderness. But what’s best for me may not be best for you. If I were young and had it to do over again, I know exactly where I’d go: Alaska, but not the coldest parts. I’ve often thought it’d be great to have enough money to take a year off, buy a small RV, and then travel all over the West looking for that perfect location. I’ve got to see a place, spend some time there, before I’d know. Best of luck to you. I hope you find that perfect spot!
Central Florida or Western North Caolina.....(Franklin, NC)
I’ve read where you can even find abandoned buses out into the wild and live out of them for free!
I did know a guy that sold everything he had and moved him and his wife to Tok, Alaska. Spent the first winter on the edge of town in a tent. Lived off of all the stuff he had dried and canned down below. Had his wife and two little kids with him!
Hardy stock! I think he lied a year in that tent. Then finally had enough money saved up from his local job to buy something small. This was something like 20 years ago and he and his wife are still there!
If you move to Arizona, make sure to bring a firearm. They have checkpoints at the border and if you don’t own a gun they turn you away.
Helotes , Texas....just outside San Antonio.

Hook up with the local Scottish Highland pipe band in San Antonio, learn to play the drums or the pipes, if you feel like it.
You will have huge numbers of conservative friends.
