Well, now that Trump is the nominee it is now time to strop burying the hatchet into each others backs and bury the damned thing out in the back 40.
I have always been for Cruz, but to ignore that Trump won the nomination is denying reality. I am glad that Cruz bowed out now instead of dragging us all to convention where the fractures to in Republican party may have developed into full blown fissures and caused our best hope against Hillary to crumble to dust.
I wish Ted the best and hope he continues his hard work in the Senate that many of us here are so proud of and continues to take the hard stands for the people he represents in Texas.
I also wish Donald the best in battling the Liberal media deluge that is about to unleashed upon him. He is about to be hit with BOTH barrels from a liberal media that has been diving it's attention between him and Ted.
I also hope and pray that should the Donald slay the hildebeast that he not fall into the trap that seems to afflict so many people that go to DC and ignore all the promises he made to us all here. Let's pray that that his promise to make "America Great Again" and to do so by securing our borders and to not play second fiddle to other countries becomes a reality.
I will reach out and support Trump and I as a Cruz supporter, I only ask those of you who have so far supported Donald Trump to hold Donald to promises he made all of us. Because this election may very well be our last chance and if it is blown then we can all kiss our freedoms and precious country goodbye.
Here is a quick vid from Sarah on the win tonight.

United We Stand, Divided we fall.
[ You know you and I have gone at it a bit in the Levin thread.
Im sorry about that, Grace. Brutal primary. Didnt always behave my best.
But I am going to go ahead and say that it is my hope that Trump asks Ted Cruz to be VP.
What do you think about that possibility, Grace? ]
That would be swell, however, i don’t think that will happen.
In some ways I hope Ted goes back to the senate and keeps doing (the good things) like taking unpopular but principled stands like he has done in the last 4 years.
The reasons I say this is that if Trump becomes president, who better to hold him to his promises than someone who ran against him in the primary. And should Donald betray us, we have at least one alternative in mind and ready to go.
I am NOT the one who was lulled.
At least we'll be good for something. Would have been nice to be trusted to take care of public land.
As long as you vote four times, it’s all good.
:)
Don't think so; this rift is going to take awhile to close, if it ever does. At issue was not the candidates themselves, it was the level of rudeness and discourtesy I've seen displayed by Republicans on FR in the last 3 months. Jerks sacrificing all decorum for the sake of their chosen politician (yes, Trump is a politician).
What I have seen here confirms my decision to leave the Republican party almost a decade ago. The smug zealots among Republicans differ little from their Democrat counterparts in culture and character; many of them are overcome with hatred and envy, and a lot of them despise Christianity and Christians. And they both want big government, but the GOP just wants big government to do different things for them than the Dems want.
Me, I don't want big government at all, but I am apparently an anomaly.
Don't misunderstand; I will vote for Trump. But I will be voting only in self-defense against Hillary.
Good post and Thank You, GraceG.
I’ve tried to stay out of the fray, but sometimes it’s tough to sit idly by and be called everything we wouldn’t even call a Democrat, simply for not hating a candidate enough.
[ I tell you what, trust is a thing that has to be earned, so I hope that Trump is able to earn your trust. ]
I hope so too, Trump makes me nervous sometimes, and I hope and pray it was for the reasons he stated in his campaign was that it was the “cost of doing business”.
If Trump becomes President, I hope he can achieve at least 25% of the promises he has made to us all.
I pray my cold feet for trump was just a drafty house and not a hole in my shoes.
No way......The Cruzers went too far.
Priority one: Taking out Hillary - for good. She should be done with politics after were done with her.
Priority two: Holding Trumps feet to the flames and making sure that he keeps his campaign promises for the next 4 years.
SPOT ON! NAILED IT!
Time to rip the sanctimonious smirk off the cackle hag’s plastic face. This will be fun!!
That is a good point you make about Ted Staying in the senate.
And I also think that it is unlikely to happen trump picking Cruz.
But it’s my hope that he does at this time.
Gotta say I think it is the best way to unite the party, and to balance Donald’s conservative credentials or lack thereof, and to acknowledge that Ted Cruz’s voters matter, and their perspective matters.
Cruz showed himself to be a DAMN TENACIOUS FIGHTER, and he also showed himself to be an honorable man, so I respect that.
[ Don’t misunderstand; I will vote for Trump. But I will be voting only in self-defense against Hillary. ]
I understand where you are coming from. I think why it stings so much was that we began the primary season with lots of passion FOR someone, instead of starting out this primary like normal with having to settle.
Now some of us are back to having to pick who to vote AGAINST instead of who we are wanting to vote FOR.
Let it go. Please.
Great thread, GraceG. Best wishes to all freepers.
Time to unify.
No, man, they didn’t.
Unless someone died, no one went to far. Everybody fought hard and dirty cause they wanted their guy to win.
Ain’t nothing wrong with that.
What feels better than holding grudges is to forgive.
And I have done things that need forgiving.
We can set down our weapons.
Right over there in a nice pile.
Trump and his supporters are going to have to work very hard.
HA!!
I have been so disgusted with the Republican Party. Candidates run saying how they are so, so conservative and once elected they swing over to the Dark Side.
I have been waiting for a viable 3rd party to oppose and then replace the Repubs. I know, a pipe dream.
I was able to convert the Wife from Dem to Repub. She was for Rubio, but on the TX primary, she voted for Cruz, like me.
I will, of course, vote for Trump, come Nov. I will have to do a LOT of work on the Wife to get her to stay a Repub. She does not like Trump. Not one bit.
My Son, a recent grad, is for Bernie. No way can I get him to vote Trump.
