I feel I need to break my silence on the Trump vs Cruz supporters
brain fart | 4/24/2016 | wastedyears

Posted on 04/24/2016 2:32:41 PM PDT by wastedyears

I feel I need to do this. This is tearing us apart like the state tearing a father away from his children during a divorce. I don't visit the DUmmies, Kos Crazies or the Huffingstuff Post because for one, they're insane, two, I like my sanity, and three, the websites are poorly designed, though that's mostly DU.

They're probably laughing hysterically at the civil war everybody is having, because this election did far more than they could ever hope to achieve. This is far worse than the 2008 and 2012 elections. We knew we were getting screwed either way, and held our noses to vote for the establishment candidates.

I was originally for Cruz when he first announced. He spoke intelligently, and I liked what he had to say. When Trump announced, I thought "what a novel idea, someone that has actually created jobs running for president. This should be interesting." At first, we thought Cruz and Trump would work together and maybe join each other later on as a president/vice president ticket. Then, as I guess is predictable, the mud flinging began.

Over time, information began to come out showing Cruz's history. It showed him as a regular politician with a shady past. Now most recently the allegations that Cruz has had multiple affairs.

Trump has had affairs while married, but he admitted to those. He didn't keep them secret.

I've noticed that our civil war has waned a bit, but that Mason - Dixon line we drew in the sand will probably not go away. Anybody on the other side of the aisle that pays attention to this site has been laughing themselves to tears. We need to stop throwing punches at each other and return to the civility we had before Cruz was the first to announce.

As soon as the Cruzlums sit down, shut up, drink their slurpees, and get on the Trump Train!

Of course the libs are laughing at our in-fighting. We are giving them all the free ad copy they’ll ever need. Pick a day, pick a debate, pick a headline - make an ad out of it and grab a few Republicans who are sickened by the whole thing.

Disgusting.

Former Cruz supporter here until Cruz began his new campaign strategy just prior to Iowa.

While I no longer listen, I have read comments made by Glenn Beck and Mark Levin attacking Trump as they're part of the Cruz campaign. It seems those comments are then reiterated here, over and over.

Regardless of where folks stand and whom they support, I ask them to look at a billionaire builder, who's motivation seems to be for the good of the Country, and instead of believing what some have said, look towards what might be a huge positive. Closed borders, beneficial trade deals, jobs and the elimination of Obamacare.

It's time to consolidate our efforts. We have a chance to rebel against establishment politics. We actually have a chance to take our Country back through a vehicle known as Donald Trump.

The root cause is not Trump vs Cruz as individuals or a candidates. What is at issue is the conflict between conservatives which are about 20% of the party and growing and the elitists (GOPe) which are about 20% and shrinking. Both are fighting for control of the party. Conservatives feel that the GOPe has lied to them for many years. The GOPe feels that adopting a conservative platform will alienate voters.

Trump represents the roughly 50 percent of the party that wants Washington to return to common sense legislation and governance. The remaining 10% are single issue voters that have a wide mix and really don’t act as a single group. Trump can win the nomination with either the GOPe or with Conservatives. He can almost win the nomination by himself. It will be VERY difficult to win the general election without both conservatives or the GOPe.

So how do you thread that needle? Piss of one side or the other and you will lose a good 10% or more of the party. That will mean that you dont turn out the base and you lose the general election. Get it just right and almost the entire party will support you in the General.

The way I see it, the BEST possible outcome would be a Trump / Walker or a Trump / Martinez (gov of NM) ticket with Trump promising Cruz the nomination for the empty seat to SCOTUS. Trump plays to and for the GOPe, Walker or Martinez adds a conservative feel to VP, GOPe does not feel threatened by the VP pick, Cruz supports the ticket and gets the nomination for SCOTUS for which his law background makes him better suited. Conservatives are not “happy” but could support. Likewise, GOPe are not “happy” but could support.

LOL! From a Trump supporter who has swallowed an ocean of Trump-flavored Kool-Aid. I, on the other hand, think for myself and stand on my unwavering conservative principles.

Go right ahead and support PC Deceptive Donald, the liberal who supports the Dream Act and bailouts of his big banking buddies.

What, you'd rather have Hillary?

Trump isn't ideal. But he's better than another Clinton. Cruz is done unless he pulls a parlor trick at the convention, which will almost certainly piss off too many people for him to have even a sliver of a chance in the general.

If you don't want Hillary, refuse to vote for Trump, and continue to support a candidate who has no chance whatsoever of being nominated, I don't know what else there is to say except that you don't seem to have a very relevant take on the current situation.

I saw the cover of the National Enquirer today while in the check-out aisle. They had the well-known photo of Oswald outside the Texas Schoolbook Depository and identified the man standing next to him as Rafael Cruz.

I have no idea who that person was--it could have been Cruz's father for all I know, but the odds are 100,000 to 1 against, I would guess.

I didn't look inside to see what kind of "evidence" they offered. Of course even if the person was Cruz's father, that means nothing by itself. Dozens or hundreds of people were near Oswald in the minutes before and after the shooting and probably none of them were involved in the plot in any way.

The mud-slinging was started by Trump- with his hateful rhetoric, insults, mockery, and name-calling. Cruz never sunk to that level.

Absolute Bull Squat and you know it.

Oh my God. I missed that. That is truly unbelievable. And for all the claims on FR about being a conservative site and all about God and life, etc., gee...i guess that was all BS since Trump is none of that.

I see they banned the person that started the Liberty Daily, a site similar to Drudge. And someone posted today that Breitbart should be a goner because they post favorable things about Cruz.

It’s a stunning revelation to see that things you counted on vaporize like that.

Better to be silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

someday this war's is gonna end.

Actually, if you watch that scene carefully, it is obvious that John Milius and Francis Ford Coppola meant for that to be the "the" line of that segment.

But the casual "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" walked away with it.

HA. Is that what you think you're standing on?

In reality, what you're standing on makes me hope you're wearing hip-boots.
