Rush Limbaugh Has Completely Lost His Way
http://www.redstate.com/ ^ | April 16th, 2016 | leon_h_wolf

Probably no one has earned more leeway from conservative voters and pundits than Rush Limbaugh. Rush has been a tireless force for the conservative movement for decades, and he probably is responsible for a whole lot of conservative Republicans who are currently in office. But thankfulness for past service only goes so far, and Rush’s program yesterday officially crossed the line.

When I think about Rush’s last year or so on air, I’m reminded of Marshall Phillipe Petain, one of the most intriguing figures of the twentieth century. Without Petain, the French might not have prevailed over the Germans at Verdun, and thus might have lost World War I. But for as much thanks as France owed Petain for his service in World War I, the full historical reckoning for Petain must acknowledge that Petain was a Nazi collaborator, the leader of Vichy France, and a totalitarian dictator. Petain’s history is complicated, and to tell the whole tale honestly requires acknowledging both the good and the bad.

So it is with Rush. For all he has done, and for all we should be thankful for, it is hard to deny that Donald Trump has brought conservatism to a critical moment. From this moment forward, it will either resemble the vision Rush has preached for thirty years, or it will not. It will either move forward as a recognizable force, or it will be destroyed with Trump in a historic landslide election.

“Maybe they should watch something else other than Al Cruzeera.”

LOL. That’s the SECOND good one tonight. You’re on a roll! :-)

I’ve been listening to Trump since about ‘89.

He is pretty much the same he has always been on conservatism.

He wants to beat the Democrats.

And I respect that—Rush really ripped into GHW Bush when he went back on his promise of “no new taxes”.

And Rush has NOT become a voice of the “GOP-e”. He is who he is, and I’m still certain he is a solid voice of conservatism.

You can’t quit!

YOU are far too important to the Cruz cause.

If you end up quitting where will our country drift to.

Please, don’t quit because our nation wasn’t built on quitters!

...if you want to start a new party then go ahead and quit!

Rush has made it crystal clear what he cares about is defeating the democrats no matter who the nominee is, and thus he will not endorse anyone in an internal party war.

I applaud him.

You guys continually post lies. I used to think that anyway. Then I just realized that all the Cruzlims are low-information. Maybe they should watch something else other than Al Cruzeera.

Not true. I don't even have a television. I get most of my info from FR and reading primary sources and talk radio from Rush to Herman Cain to Glenn Beck to Meghan McCain to Vickie McKenna (via I Heart Radio). Except for McKenna, I am limited by our local radio station. Needless to say, I don't care at all for Miss McCain. She is frightfully dense, and worse, doesn't know it. And although Beck is ertainly anti-Trump, he is largely content free, thinking he can be condescending if he makes fun of himself about it. Cain is pretty much pro-Trump, is generally a better listen. McKenna is certainly anti-Trump, but is content dense for a radio show, with serious interviews with serious folks worth listening to.

Referring to Cruz supporters as Cruzlims is needlessly inflammatory. I am willing to support Trump in the event he wins the nomination, but it will be very difficult to lift a finger other than to vote if Trump supporters are unwilling to impute good will and intelligence to us.

After 2012 I lost interest in the whole game, Rush, et. al. 2012 was the checkered flag for US and the starting gun for prepping. Time now to turn off the radio and stock up.

Your touchback amnesty claims are pure bull and you know it. But you use the same talking points from the Iowa caucus, nearly verbatim.

I can cherry pick all sorts of idiotic things Cruz has said (or voted for), while you choose single sentences that vary greatly from published policy papers. Papers that Cruz has not put out.

You’re a free traitor, I get that.

Go back to your oil rigs kjam.

You may well be right.
Of course with POTUS Hillary, a Dem senate, and control of SCOTUS for decades, it would definitely be a lock.

Yep, no matter what you've done for the conservative cause, and for how many decade's you've done it, if you don't kiss Trump's azz you are a traitor, right?

Feh and double feh.

On the day Lewandowsky was vindicated, Rush spun it that the whole thing was done by people who hate Lewandowsky. But that was quite a different way of saying it.

Yep, I noticed that Rush was significantly premature on the condemnation, without a qualifier, of Lewandowsky immediately after the initial reports of the incident, not his usual concern for complete information before analysis.

Then Fields, the "grab" and her history blow up in his face, and it's like it never happened. Weird.

I don’t have a lot of good will for people who continually post things that are untrue.

This is Trump’s health care plan:

https://www.donaldjtrump.com/positions/healthcare-reform

You are now aware of it. Unless Ted Cruz is running on a campaign of getting rid of Medicare and Medicaid, I suggest you stop misrepresenting Trump’s position on health care.

I hope I don’t see you doing it again.

That was just the first sentence of the drivel you posted. I can’t be arsed to bother with the rest, but pretty much everything you posted was either ignorance or misrepresentation.

I support Cruz but agree with your statement. However, social issues (character) counts and - Trump is big government when it comes to education and health care.

Trump is a very recent convert to conservatism in some areas - and that concerns me.

I very much like Trumps outspokenness on illegals and muslims.

However, statements like the one above that Trump is more conservative than Cruz are seriously ignorant.

Trump’s lack of a track record concerns me and lack of morals concerns me (Casino’s are probably the sleaziest legal businesses in most states). His lack of emotional maturity bothers me. I don’t think he is particularly bright. Oddly, on the flip side, he is very good at dealing with people and manipulating opinion. So while he makes me cringe at times he has strong leadership skills.

Cruz’ wife concerns me a bit. Cruz is a rock solid constitution conservative. He is generally brilliant in debate. However, he doesn’t smile enough and he strikes many people as false. Based on conversations I have had with people who know him that appears to be more the camera than reality - but in an election - perception is reality.

I think Trump has a better chance of winning the general than Cruz.

I think Cruz has a better chance of winning the nomination than Trump because Cruz understands that most states do not pick delegates based on popular vote - a crappy system but a pre-existing reality. How could Trump not pay attention to that?

But - it is refreshing to actually share information on the candidates with someone as apposed to shallow posts going back and forth that sound like something out of first grade.
