John Kasich delivered a lofty speech on Tuesday in which he implored voters to reject the dark visions of Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, slamming their divisive policies and behavior as not worthy of the office they are seeking.
The Ohio governors speech at the Women's National Republican Club in New York had all the trappings of a presidential affair, with Hail to the Chief piped into the room and American flags prominently placed behind him.
But the rhetoric and setting was out of step with Kasichs campaign success to date. He has only won one state so far his home state of Ohio and on the delegate front, he is running fourth in a three-man race (Marco Rubio, who dropped out last month, is still 28 delegates ahead).
At this point, its mathematically impossible for Kasich to win the 1,237 delegates he needs to claim the nomination outright, but hes pushed back on Trump and Cruzs calls for him to drop out, instead banking that he can emerge as the consensus candidate at a contested convention in July.
To that end, Kasich on Tuesday offered a much-hyped speech entitled Two Paths in which played on a theme that he has touted for much of his campaign that his rivals are selling darkness, and he's selling light. While he did not directly invoke Trump or Cruz's names, he rattled off their controversial proposals and talking points, including the real estate mogul's proclamation that he will "make America great again."

Kasich deserves one trophy, for Most Muscular Lips. In every photo that lower lip is working like an earth mover.
Kasich is the only American over the age of eight who punctuates his conversation with “You know what?”
I hope they had someone behind him to clean up all that crap, before someone gets hurt.
Kasich is running real hard for VP. He knows Trump is likely going to be a few delegates short and will need him on the ticket. This stuff is all posturing to get some say so in the part plank and the general election campaign. That’s OK. He’s the Biden of the GOP. He will make a perfect VP. He will do what he’s told and go to all the funerals and stuff Trump has no time for.
Kasich.... the Ohio fakester.
....not worth diddly squat
Do not be surprised if Kasich gets the nomination.
I wouldn’t vote for Kasich to do anything more important than run the Saturday night checkers tournament down at the general store. And now that I think about it...
The real not worthy is someone who has barely gotten any votes, but thinks the GOP should undemocratically proclaim him their nominee. This is the mindset of a dictator.
Ah Johnny go drink a round or two with your buddy Bonehead
Kasich is such a turd.
My brother voted for him.
Yeesh.
I never notice his lips. Now I’m gonna have to look and cringe every time I see his self-righteous mug.
Don’t feel bad, my mother and sister voted for Rubio.
Is he willing to say that Hillary in not worthy of the office?
I'd vote for him ten times before voting for Gov. Beastley once.
Thanks LOL
Whatcha gonna do? LOL
Kasich insulted Christians trying to defend their freedoms in North Carolina and Georgia. He told them to get over it! He will NEVER get my vote.
Herb I think.
In the America most of us grew up in, THE PEOPLE chose their leaders. What made them 'worthy' is they proved themselves to us - THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES... NOT TO A BUNCH OF FELLOW ELITES..
When I was young elites in the USSR chose who was 'worthy to run the USSR. The Russian people were only allowed to rubber stamp their choices. Back then - before the US became a hellhole - we felt sorry for people who lived under those kinds of systems.
