Yesterday, in the close aftermath of the Isis bombing in Pakistan, Donald Trump made one of the more incredibly grandiose claims of this incredibly bizarre campaign season: that only he could solve the war with Isis.
I alone, he boasted.
In this regard, he is so much like the Obama of 2008 that it is downright scary.
Almost eight years ago to the date, at a San Francisco fundraiser, Obama said, foreign policy is the area where I am probably most confident that I know more and understand the world better than Senator Clinton or Senator McCain.
After belittling Mrs. Clintons experience as First Lady as being ceremonial fluff, Obama went on to say that among the three candidates for President, only he could pass the 3 a.m. Leadership Test. Indeed, he alone possessed the judgment, the temperament to ask the right questions, to weigh the costs and benefits of military action, who insists on good intelligence, who is not going to be swayed by the short-term politics.
What a piece of work.
And as for the ultimate foreign policy test, the one John Kerry called, passing the Global Test, Obama proposed a diplomatic Manhattan Project of sorts, with Irans Mahmoud Amadinejad. The same Ahmadinejad who said his countrys objective was to destroy what he called corrupt western powers.
Our objective is to annihilate all corrupt powers that dominate our planet today,
We all know how that turned out. Let me ask you, does anyone, other than the Obama administration, believe that the world is now safer place with the infamous Iran Deal in place?

Obamas grandiosity surpasses mere cockiness and is unseemly, if not dangerous. That same grandiosity is exactly what I saw in Trumps tweet about the Isis attacks on Christians in Pakistan. Their rhetoric is different, but their over-confidence in their own unproven abilities is strikingly similar.
Obama’s definition of resolve would be different from ours. Obama would prefer the destruction of the USA as we know it.

Nonsense. What Trump is saying is that none of the others running have the temerity to stand up to ISIS, period.
cruise and hidi are globalists and will sell out our country’s sovereignty, given the chance.
True. My point in this post was to compare what we knew about obama in 08 vs what we know about DJT in 16.
Ha! LOL, that’s a great video.
When I signed up for FR all those years ago, I really didn;t give much thought to choosing a user name.
And now, I’m stuck with it.
We know now that he takes all of his orders from valerie jarrett. And, anyone who thinks he isn’t fulfilling their Leftist vision of utopia isn’t paying attention.
But, back in 08, nobody knew that. And, that is the point of this article.
Thanks for your comment.
I used to be Junior Samples on Disqus. LOL

Nonsense!
Trump, as a business man, is familiar with and dealt with foreign countries and he knows how to put the interests of the US first.
War came to Chicago and Cruz joined the Enemy.
Heidi with her CFR membership and Teddy with his push for greater H1-B visa quotas are just a tip of the iceberg in selling us out.
BTW - saw an article today stating Teddy’s Washington phone number was found in the phone bank data for the Ashley Madison “escort” business.
What a bunch of creeps.
Considering that Trump was advocating the plan that Syria, the Kurds and Russian used to beat ISIS before Russia got involved, I think he can claim he has the right idea on the subject. The Russians took the oil wealth away from ISIS and the Kurds shut the border from Turkey. Without the oil wealth ISIS can’t pay their fighters and without Turkey they can’t get replacement fighters for the people who run away. ISIS now runs away when the Syrian army attacks.
