Donald Trump Praises Planned Parenthood (Vanity)
Vanity ^ | 02/25/2016 | refreshed

Fellow Freepers,

Here is the quote from Donald Trump regarding Planned Parenthood tonight.

"But millions and millions of women, cervical cancer, breast cancer, are helped by Planned Parenthood. So you can say whatever you want but they have millions of women going through Planned Parenthood that are helped greatly."

Questions for discussion: How is this not an endorsement of Planned Parenthood? In your opinion, should we support a candidate who endorses Planned Parenthood in any way, even performing non-abortive services?

I am a prolife leader in my community. On Fridays I stand at the driveway into a general
surgery center (the only place where abortions are committed in this area) with a sign and
models of babies at varying stage of development in the womb. I had 4 squad cars visit
me last Friday. These are my bona fides.

Trump declares himself prolife, says he is not for funding PP as long as they do abortions.
Does he share my Catholic total prolife view? No.

I support him because he at minimum is more prolife than the Democrat nominee, and he
is the only one who can win, and I take him at his word. There is no point in voting for
nominees who can't win, and whose words can't be trusted. Rubio and Cruz can wax
eloquent on prolife, but I have no confidence in the veracity of either one.

Trump can indeed win, and his bold stances on the other issues make him the person we
need at this time.

You posted half a quote.

After he said what you have posted here, Trump also said that as long as PP performs abortions, he would not fund them.

Nothing to discuss because this is the truth.

Really, is that why held up his hand the same way the guy does. Trump tends to mock just about anyone who criticizes him, so I don’t buy his excuse. Even tonight, he just couldn’t help himself and mocked Hewitt about his supposed low ratings.

You are so on point here!

Thank you :)

Good news is that the younger generation does not support abortion like the older generation does.

Thanks for thanks ... and I guess in number two ... I lied about 'short follow up'.

Trump generally ignores how others are getting things done, chooses his own way, and generally gets what he wants.

I think anyone skeptical of Trump (I am) or who outright can't stand him but is conservative - needs to ask themselves though - in criticizing his means - which are not evil but sometimes confusing and even repugnant - does he stand a chance at getting our common aims, does he actually support those aims, even though it sometimes isn't that clear.

He's by no means perfect, but I answer the above questions in the affirmative, and there's no way I can prove I'm right. If he in fact does believe in our common aims, I doubt there is a better choice at this time, and I actually think he's exactly the prick to get it done, in the mean time the ignorant and culty people in America - they will follow him - not much gets done in America without the ignorant followers - they are a constant - so you might as well have them on our side. The thing is, they only respond to charisma and crowd appeal. Both Rubio and Cruz are so far appearing that ... they don't have it. With Cruz, I believe that may only be temporary ... or ... possible he's just not suited to be the type of leader who is visible all the time. Doesn't mean he can't have as much or more impact applying his mind more behind the scenes.

I should stop starting short additions ... :-)

I’ve been on free republic for about 16 years now. In the past I have highly respected the responses I have received here and the discussion, especially on political issues. It is a bit more than just a bunch of random internet people.

1.3 Million health visits in 2013, a bit over 300,000 abortions. Sounds like a lot more is provided than just abortions. Since PP was started in 1922, a lot of water has gone under the bridge. Obviously, PP is much more than abortions and the sale of body parts.

"Good news is that the younger generation does not support abortion like the older generation does."

Agreed - I think we have all fought well here, but the young ones coming up would do themselves a favor by ignoring the past 20 years and saying 'ok that was crap, how about we young people take a look at principles, on their own merits, and figure out our own way to do it based on those principles we accept.'

It's not HARD to see that abortion is awful and ultimately murder. You just have to focus on it outside of the context of 'but ... but ... but ... it's my RIGHT to murder a living thing if it's in my body, so I must do it, or else I'm not free." Same with most of the other 'duh' stuff that's taking down the country.

You are an excellent apologist. I wish all Trump supporters were the same (and all Cruz supporters for that matter). You’ve given me something to think about.

“I’m sorry, I can’t find the entire response. Do you know where I could find a transcript?”

I suggest you continue searching wherever you found the partial excerpt.

So you think abortions are the only services provided by PP? Do you think they provided abortions in 1922 when they were founded? To try to stretch your hate for Trump around the same post as your hate for the evil of abortion is the work of an idiot.

Ha! Finally found it. This is from the debate transcript

“As far as Planned Parenthood is concerned, I’m pro-life. I’m totally against abortion, having to do with Planned Parenthood. But millions and millions of women — cervical cancer, breast cancer — are helped by Planned Parenthood.

So you can say whatever you want, but they have millions of women going through Planned Parenthood that are helped greatly. And I wouldn’t fund it.

I would defund it because of the abortion factor, which they say is 3 percent. I don’t know what percentage it is. They say it’s 3 percent. But I would defund it, because I’m pro-life. But millions of women are helped by Planned Parenthood.”

Nothing new, but I thought I’d post it for the sake of completeness.

I’ll put it another way. When Trump is President and a bill comes across his desk to defund PP because of abortion, he will sign it.

No, Trump is not strongly against abortion. Trump supports abortion in cases of rape and incest. He believes that it is ok for an unborn child to be murdered for the sins of his or her father. That is not pro-life!

Thanks for finding the complete answer. It puts things in a different light.

It is sickening to see Trump’s devotion to defending a vile organization that exists to kill babies. Planned Parenthood was started by a racist natzi loving eugenicist, Margaret Sanger, whose mission was to eliminate blacks and other “undesirables” through abortion and contraception. Trumps determination to defend this satanic organization speaks volumes about his character.
